Discussion: READ: Michael Flynn's Resignation Letter

When even Donald Trump doubts your integrity, it’s time to hire a team of a dozen lawyers. TPM readership has many such lawyers in its stable. I recommend Flynn post here.

I’d rather read his indictment.

“throughout my tenure as National Security Advisor” seems an overblown description for someone who lasted barely 3 weeks in the job.

I actually think what he tweeted out last night is far more revealing.

He is claiming to be the victim and indicating that he isn’t the only “scapegoat”.

The Trumpers have got to be worried…no way this guy keeps his mouth shut for long. They just fired a guy who most likely has all sorts of dirty secrets on Trump, who has shown repeatedly that he is driven by revenge and is highly unstable.

Like I said the other day, Trump really should have a long talk with Abe about seppuku, and passed it along to Flynn.

Well, he may have been using RT for inspiration: RT tweeted that Flynn “retired”—after a long career, by the standards of a Russian spy who disappoints Putin.

How does it feel to have screwed up under two administrations…or maybe we should say three: Obama, Trump and Putin?

In America, you retire, in Russia they retire YOU.

President Trump has complete confidence in Mr. Flynn.
President Trump has complete confidence in the sun rising in the west tomorrow.
President Trump has complete confidence in __________ .

I foresee an interesting pattern here. His complete confidence vs. reality.

Did Trump authorize the comments made by Flynn before the phone call took place? I wonder how good our post 9/11 surveillance really is.

And this is why he’d reached the ceiling in the Military. The folks around him realized he was a shoot from the hip kind of guy. Luckily this time his gun went off even earlier than he wanted and he shot himself in the foot.

“Oh, oh, I forgot to tell you that… I broke the law.”

President Trump, who in just three weeks, has reoriented American foreign policy in fundamental ways to restore America’s leadership position in the world.

Yes, but is “What’s in it for me?” really a viable foreign policy?

Ah, c’mon. Flynn is also

…honored to have served our nation and the American people in such a distinguished way.

I don’t know about how things are in your world, but in mine that sentence is supposed to end after American people. It isn’t for him to tell us his service has been distinguished: in fact, given how he left the service of both the Obama and Dumpf administrations I’d rather argue his service was not particularly distinguished.

This is going to get juicy. I can’t wait for the steady drip, drip, drip of self-righteousness from Flynn.

Reading this makes one physically ill!

This letter just gets more preposterous the more you read it, as if Trump WH drafted it and they think it will suffice to cover their asses.

Very nicely done! It is amazing how applicable the old nursery rymes are.

WHOOPEE! We’re ALL GONNA DIE…
The Donalds little fingerprints are all over this.

I really don’t believe that this guy went rogue. It is just not in his DNA. It is far more likely that his conversations were being directed by Trump himself. I read it as Trump trying to make some kind of machiavellian deal with the Russians (the whole election psyops thing was part of it) and Flynn’s involvement got him caught. So Trump separated Flynn from the pack (at least publicly)

If I am wrong then look for Flynn to make a book deal with a high 6 figure advance within the next 6 months… If that doesn’t happen then it suggests he is still attached to the Trump teat.
