Even if the clinic is private pay, the clinic’s existence, the training of the DRs and nurses who work there, cost of services and medications, etc. are all supported directly and indirectly by Canada’s single-payer medical system.

That’s what I wanted to know. Members of Congress have a nifty health care plan, and something like hernia surgery should be common enough to get it done pretty much anywhere, any time if you’ve got an insurance card. Tossing out that he’s going to Canada for medical treatment with no mention of why is weird.

My wife waited several months for very necessary back surgery in the US despite gold-plated insurance, Long story that I won’t get into, but there are waits in the US too.
