The guy who votes routinely to let 40,000 Americans die every year only for lack of healthcare is himself flying to Canada to have surgery- which his U.S. congressional Healthcare plan will pay for- i.e. which the American Taxpayer pays for.

For Paul as a guy who has often publicly declared that “…the U.S. has the best healthcare system in the world”, I think this is a bit of a reversal.
Well from what I have seen on most right wing sites he will have to wait at least a year for surgery so maybe some good will come out of this…

I clicked through and neither this nor the original piece had any reason for why he would do this. It’s not like in the old movies where you go to a specialist in Switzerland. It’s a no-big kind of thing. So why?
Paul has called universal health care and nationalized options “slavery.”
“With regard to the idea whether or not you have a right to health care … It means you believe in slavery," Paul said in 2011. "You are going to enslave not only me but the janitor at my hospital, the person who cleans my office, the assistants, the nurses. … You are basically saying you believe in slavery.”
Why is Rand Paul supporting slavery? And what’s wrong with American hernia surgeons? He really couldn’t find a single quality surgeon and facility? Then why do we put up with this crappy healthcare system? The one advantage was supposed to be access to innovative solutions. Isn’t that one reason we pay way more than everyone else around the world?

Yes, this is really weird. There are any number of surgeons in the DC area or back in KY who can do this. Why Canada? Surely his constituents will want to know, at least the ones with time to follow the news.
