Not a big surprise.
Why, you’ve done such a great job as Chicago mayor, no?
aaaand here’s our 21st contender for 2020 democratic nominee
(I’d like to lock him and bad gateway in room for an hour)
Good riddance.
I like politicians that have all of their fingers.
Although that Tester guy seems to be OK - so far…
He has a lot of F-You money from some time between gov’t gigs as an investment banker doing who knows what for a short time and making ~$14M. Another mystery smelling of craven corruption. Or as Balzac said: The secret of a great fortune made without apparent cause is soon forgotten, if the crime is committed in a respectable way.
And if he somehow wins he can sell off all of America’s parking meters to foreign corporations…
So now Emanuel’s critics will have the opportunity to show how, with just a snap of their fingers, they will end poverty and problrms with the police department since it was always Emanuel’s fault.
So what are leaders for if not to hold them accountable, especially in the case of Chicago PD, for which he has complete responsibility? He wanted the job; nobody forced him to run for it…
Think I would have had a better chance than Rahm.
As a Chicagoan all I can say is good riddance, Rahm.
Paul Vallas for mayor!
Aids were deflecting questions over the weekend. Local sources have confirmed that he was in head-to-heads with both his wife and Axelrod all weekend.
HELL NO! Rahm was able to keep the McDonald shooting, AND SEVERAL OTHERS undercover until it was too late. He sacrificed McCarthy, who needed to be gone, and the City’s Corporate Counsel, who was the one that convinced judges to keep several dashcam recordings from several cases under seal. Let me repeat that, Rahm ordered the Corporate Counsel to plead for dashcam footage to be sealed because they were afraid of the reaction by people in the city. McCarthy allowed cops free rein to shoot and kill people (mainly Blacks and Browns), the Cook County State’s Attorney joined in the coverups, the city avoided big lawsuits and settlements and the narrative of lawless Black and Hispanics needed to be killed by police continued. The McDonald killing was the tip of the iceberg. There were several cases of police-involved killings that were also under seal. In each case, only the official police narrative was told, and in every case, the police were justified in shooting and killing citizens. Yes, Anita Alvarez was voted out of office, but she was put into ofice to deal with the mess created by Jon Burge and his outlaw detectives who tortured confessions out of a lot of innocent people. Some of those people ended up on Death Row for crimes they didn’t commit. Instead, she defended Burge and other cops while trying to get convictions thrown out due to Burge’s conduct.
Back to Rahm. He smeared his last opponent, who must not have wanted to win. Rahm attacked his opponent claiming he would have to raise taxes and fees to balance the budget (without mentioning his role in helping bust that budget), then proceeded to raise taxes and fees AFTER he won his reelection bid. With John Van Dyke about to go on trial for killing LuQuan McDonald, and the issue of Homan Square off the radar, but still unsettled, and issues with schools and etc, Rahm is feeling the heat.
Good riddance I say. The City is spending about $50 Million a year to settle lawsuits (mainly from police) and Rahm seems okay with the city bleeding resources because the department has too many undisciplined thugs and the courts and prosecutors are willing to let it go. It’s not going to get better under tRump because he’s okay with officers beating and killing people.
Bye Rahm, we won’t shed a tear for your shady ass.
No, it wasn’t all Rahm’s fault, so you can keep that strawman. Rahm chose not to work on making things better. He wanted control and got it. It didn’t get better under him, so bye Rahm.
Don’t mean to defend Rahm - but that was Daley. Assign the credit to where it belongs.
Why is that a requirement? Did anyone imply they could do that?
After conservatives have totally f*cked things up, why does the answer always have to be a single, all-encompassing solution that will solve everything? Otherwise, do nothing.
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
The City of Chicago could have done a lot worse than Rahm Emanuel and probably will.
No.
Sorry tecmage, I was a bit too droll. I meant the post as a sarcastic comment.
Rahm wont seek reelection? That is fucking retarded
