This tells me that more people are paying attention to the Russian angle than I would have suspected. Itâs a murky, difficult story, yet a lot of people are already grasping just how bizarre the actions of the Trump camp were, and are picking up on the fact that theyâre all lying about what happened.
Innocent explanations? Great, letâs hear them.
Sessions;
Fuck Yâall
Well we donât read polls or pay attention to them unless they are in our favor.
Lets do a Faux news poll and see the result
They are the only people that count
Donnie says: Quinnipiac? Sounds like a furriner to me. Fake Poll. Sad!
They donât âthinkâ he lied, they know he did. The ones who donât want him to resign are either fine with his lying or delusional.
The headline should read: Majority Wants Sessions To Resign, Because He Lied Under Oath
The big issues at the town halls appear to be the ACA and the Trump/Russia connection.
Though the story is complicated, I think people intuitively sense thereâs something wrong hereâŚand theyâre worried about it. I think Republicans will pay a price if they try to sweep it under the rug.
Three million more people want Sessions to leave than want him to stay. In a democracy that means he stays.
âAnd, playing the role of the Electoral College⌠the Senate!! Letâs hear it for them, folks!â
I am not usually with the majority but I will make an exception on Sessions.
John Oliver on Jeffy Bob Jim Bobby Billy Ray Jeff Beau:
âThat was an unforced error. He wasnât even asked whether heâd met with the Russians. He just implicated himself out of the blue, which should have been immediately suspicious. If you ask someone how their weekend was, and they say, âWell, I definitely wasnât [naughty word that would offend some TPM readers] into the Slurpee machine at the 7-Eleven,â you check the f*cking security cameras at the 7-Eleven, and you donât act surprised.â
He did and I do.
This is something that is generally extremely important to me and it is also why, pace Bill Maher, I donât want Elliot Spitzer back and Iâm so appalled at the Texas AG. When it comes to senators, representatives, even presidents, I can let some stuff go. When it comes to DAs, AGs, and judges, no quarter and no looking the other way. If someone is in charge of enforcing the fucking laws on the rest of us then they better toe the line right down to every t crossed, every i dotted or find another fucking profession.
I will not ever accept that level of hypocrisy from those people who have the power of the law over us.
Oh, just consider this a starting point. Sessions is gone, its just a matter of how much of his own political blood Trump is willing to spill fighting that fight, and for how long. The outcome isnât really in doubt. Nor is the fact that Trump WILL be bleeding over Sessions. He canât afford to quickly fire/have him resign, not so soon after Flynn.
But Sessions value to Trump has pretty much evaporated. He has been forced to recuse himself from what will eventually bring Trump down, he has no control over Comey, and is now an actual liability because of his own lying and Russian contacts. Even if Trump luvs him some southern loyalty, Kuchner, Bannon et. al. should be able to read the writing on the wall.
Youâre in for a long 4 years.
How obvious do lies have to be before they are called what they are?
Just a rhetorical question because I know the GOP wonât care.
btw: lead story on CNN currently is Obamaâs reaction to the wire tap extravaganza⌠I must say that he is far more in control than I would be. I would have demanded a face to face meeting, with the press in attendance. I would then demand to know what he based those insults on and why he would believe that shitâŚ
We all areâŚwhatever party we support.
It makes for a long life if you put it that way but this is one of my core beliefs that informs my personal ethics, so whatever price comes attached, doesnât matter.
From the actual release:
American voters say 52 â 40 percent that U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions lied under oath
during his confirmation hearings and say 51 â 42 percent that he should resign, according to a
Quinnipiac University national poll released today.
Voters disapprove 54 â 32 percent of the way President Donald Trump is handling U.S.
policy towards Russia, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds.
American voters support 66 â 30 percent an âindependent commission investigating
potential links between some of Donald Trumpâs campaign advisors and the Russian
government.â The only listed party, gender, age or racial group opposed is Republicans,
opposed 64 â 30 percent.
A total of 61 percent are âvery concernedâ or âsomewhat concernedâ about President
Trumpâs relationship with Russia.
Weâve been the majority all along.
I think Trump supporters in large measure are thrilled with his conduct and the election results. Trump could get caught shitting on Obamaâs front porch and theyâd think âBoy, I wish I could do that!â Trump is a vulgarian. So are his fans. This is a ride theyâll revel in.
