Discussion: Psychiatrist Used Own Gun In Pennsylvania Shootout With Patient

Discussion for article #225544

Maybe. Looks like one in a thousand or so.

I’ll give you a dollar for a thousand. Sound good?

Why does the crazy person have a gun to begin with?

Hey, Beej! Everyone was wondering where you were. Good to see you back. Very clever handle btw, bravo.

So. Anyway. As usual, Beej, life is more complicated than you suggest. I’d say the psychiatrist was justified in having a weapon, even against the rules, in a society that makes it easy for everyone, including crazy people, to get guns because we don’t have universal background checks. This guy was almost certainly adjudicated mentally ill, he’s sitting there with a caseworker, for God’s sake.

The psychiatrist returned fire, wounding the shooter and slowing him down, but the shooter was subdued by unarmed people. The psychiatrist was wounded, and with a few millimeters’ difference could have been killed. The caseworker was killed. Multiple shootings in a hospital, Beej. And you think we need looser gun laws and more guns. Reality argues otherwise.

Was the doctor that was carrying against hospital policy immediately fired???

Metal detectors at the door would have stopped the bad guy with a gun. Adding guns just made it more hazardous.

or how about “see how easy it is for lunatics to get weapons? That’s fucked up.”

Or it would have gotten a security guard shot in the face. One or the other.

The dumbassery runs deep with EG.
How needy to be slapped-- do you need to be–
to sockpuppet your way back onto a comment board where you’ve been banned–
and you’re thought of as a creep?
And creepy.

Masturbating to mashups of Reagan and Palin doesn’t take nearly enough of his time.

Maybe Marshall can lend him some cheesecake pictures of Cruz?

He couldn’t resist this one, so he crawled out into the light. In his mind this incident justifies about 85 percent of his entire existence. Guns are good! See? See? It’s worth sacrificing a sock, just to dance about a bit triumphantly like Gollum with the Ring.

If your facts are correct, they give the lie to the “good guy with a gun” meme.

One of these days We’ll likely see some good guy shoot some nut with a gun and bent on mass murder.
It will not change the fact that nuts can get guns, but should not.

We knew he couldn’t make it through his suspension without doing the sock routine. Beej is so damn predictable

Actually I have no objection to gun ownership, and I think people who face a real threat should be able to carry. I do object to mass hysteria and fetishizing guns, regarding them as magic protective wands, a traditional family value, or a bulwark against “tyranny”. FFS there ought to be universal background checks. And certain measures—banning high-cap magazines comes to mind—are provably helpful. Gun regulation in general works, that’s proven. I don’t want to ban them. I just think we ought to be rational about these machines that are made to be dangerous.

In no way is that phrase an identifiable tell for a known serial zombie puppet troll. In no way.

Well all I know is that what was missing from this situation was more guns. Guns guns guns… pew! pew! pew!

The immoral arming of those who have no right to the privilege of owning a gun is a contradiction that haunts the nra.

A psychiatrist who packs a gun.

Is this the same one who has obviously botched Beej’s medication so very, very badly?
