My comment at the NYTimes when I heard Trumpâs suggestion to âarm teachers.â He came through within two hours of me posting this.
Everybody that attended his meeting last night just realized they wasted a few hours of their lives.
His Orangenessâs version of âwalking it backâ on full display. Did someone prepare notes for him on how to react? Empty suit!
Iâm gobsmacked that the teenagers are proposing common sense reforms with broad public support, and the president is pushing puerile action movie fantasies.
Also, Iâm struck by how, in the town hall, they wouldnât let people slip away from answering questions so easily. People aspiring to do journalism could learn something. When is the last time you heard, âmy question wasâŚâ
Take away the fucking guns.
Thatâs âproblem solvedâ.
I can only imagine the quiet rage, horror, and utter hopeless frustration of those people in the room with him and Q-tip - having to listen ârespectfully.â This man doesnât deserve a scintilla of respect. I wish someone had spit in his bloated orange face.
âI think it could very well solve your problem,â he told the group who gathered at the White House.
And they stared at him in disbelief. Did he think he was trying to sell them a used car?
Trump schools as the modern day âShoot-out at the OK Corral.â

So, I guess hazard pay for the undercover lunch-lady?
I have a great deal of admiration for anyone who chooses to go into the teaching profession. Lack of pay, lack of resources, being demonized by Republican politicians, and now, literally putting your life on the line. We owe them and our kids so much more.
âShoot out at Golden Corralâ All the lead you can eat.
Remember the good old days when the only hazard was the meatloaf?
âAdeptâ = voted for trump
Weak. Uninformed. Ineffective.
There are so many things wrong with these rants. At bottom, they are simply obnoxious and insulting. If guns arenât the problem, as conservatives contend, then theyâre not the solution.
This is a battle between money and religion, and itâs looking like religion is losing.
So what percentage of the public school teacher workforce in America has extensive military experience with firearms or has advanced civilian firearms training, comparable to what would be required to engage in a shootout with a heavily armed attacker in a heavily populated building filled with panicking children?
Problem not solved. Here in California there are high-dollar law firms specialized in police violence, the kind where police shoot âsuspectsâ or beat people to near or actual death. One area of endless fascination for juries is how police behave in gun fights. A lot canât hit the broad side of a barn when a bad guy is firing back. Reality changes in a fire fight. This has long been known. About 25 years ago, a training industry sprung up to teach police how to behave. A famous trainer, Andy Stanford, did this for years, but gave up because in the end, the only answer is disarmament. As the lethality grew, so did the propensity to shoot first and in a vital area like the head or chest, and ask questions later. He gave away his guns and now lectures against them. If we want to be like a normal advanced economy the only answer is to take the lethality out of the equation.
As long as trump is willing to make the White House the pilot program for his little idea, and arm Sarah Sanders and Jared Kushner in place of his security detail, I say give it a shot!
Still framing it as âtheirâ problem too. What I wouldnât give to see someone turn and say, âHey dickhead, you are supposed to be the leader of the free world. This is YOUR problem.â
