Child welfare is a top issue for Mrs. Trump

Wait…what?

Seriously, is there anybody anywhere who gives a tinker’s damn where this woman goes or what she does or what she says (in words written by somebody else and possibly cribbed from Michelle Obama)?

As long as those children aren’t trying to get into the good old USA.

“I think the U.S.-Africa relationship is much bigger than the
president’s comments, and it’s been going on for decades and decades,”
Merservey said.

Compared to the Chinese - Africa relationships over the last 20 years, the US is fading fast.

“I think the U.S.-Africa relationship is much bigger than the president’s comments, and it’s been going on for decades and decades,” he said. “Frankly, I suspect the vast majority of average Africans have not heard of any of those dust-ups. It’s very much an elite preoccupation.”

Well, seeing as the savages don’t have any form of technology (/s), how would they possibly know that the current occupant of the WH called the entire continent of Africa “a sh*thole.”

Here’s the thing: in previous decades, various African countries had to suck up to whatever foolishness the WH was dishing out and had to appear to be gracious to the First Lady because money. Whatever foreign aid they were getting might very well have negated any bitterness they had to swallow. Rump’s regime has made it pretty clear, they see no need to give any African nation one dollar in foreign aid. I’d say that pretense at this point is finished.

ETA: And that’s not to mention the good old fashioned racism both Rumps exhibited towards President Obama. I’d get a food taster to come along on the trip with her.

She’s taking cyclone-fence cages as gifts. The trip will be billed as International Infrastructure Week.

Christ.

So, her two big “projects” are bullying and child welfare?

And she’s married to the guy who bullies and kidnaps?

There is no “U.S.-Africa relationship”

Africa is a fucking continent. 54 countries. How do you have a relationship with a continent?

Fifty. Four.

This headline honestly made me pause for a few seconds. Then I realized that, even now, when I read the acronym FLOTUS, I instinctively think of Michelle Obama. Even today. Melania just doesn’t immediately register for some reason. I don’t know what that says about me, or the current state of the, sigh, first family. But it’s strange.

PORTUGAL, 1947 {AP} - Beloved wife of popular leader Mrs. Juan Peron (Eva) has met with popular leader of Portugal Generalissmo Francisco Franco. Mrs. Peron is very concerned with issues of poverty and children. In Argentina, many of the poorer classes from rural areas are flocking to the city, eager to see the opera and ballet for which the capital, Buenos Aries is famed.

Am I the only one who feels discomfort when people speak of “Africa” as if this gigantic continent spanning 60 degrees of longitude, home to the Berbers of Morocco, Pygmies of the Congo Basin, the long-shanked runners of Kenya, the Bantu peoples of the Lakes, and descendants of the Bohrs – a continent containing 54 separate nations, with ecosystems ranging from desert to tropical – were all one place with a single culture?
