Indeed. Speaking as someone who has lived in one of the poorest West African countries, your average person in Africa is probably more up to date on world affairs than your average American citizen. The irony of the FLOTUS banging the drum of child welfare will not be lost on them.

Snark aside now… I wonder how many in trump’s orbit realize that there are a lot of independent and wildly divergent countries in Africa, One would think that Joshua Meservey, a senior Africa policy analyst at the Heritage Foundation would realize that. But maybe not. And the average “African” is well aware of what trump said. Words like “shithole” and “living in huts” penetrate people’s thinking and stay there. They don’t take kindly to being insulted. Nor should they.
