Discussion: Poll: Trump Leads, But Clinton Still Wins

Discussion for article #239273

The Bombastic bad boy wins again. FOX has spent years trying to turn American politics into reality TV. Now that they’ve succeeded, they appear to be regretting what they’ve done. Too bad! He’s your monster GOP. Have fun with your creation.

The people met Dr. Frankenstein and his monster. And they decided they liked the monster.

And then it ate them.

The End.

Looks like Trump is cornering the “vile and crass” wings of the GOP, which, based on the noise they make, I’m surprised is ONLY 24%.

Huge margin of error but if we take a poll of polls of what’s been released so far. There’s a certain trend developing. He is the road runner. “Trump Trump”

These are the moments that test my agnostic/atheist beliefs… because damnit, if he keeps leading the GOP Primary for the next few months, and (long shot!) maybe wins the first few states, or (even bigger long shot!!!) potentially wins the GOP Primary, then there truly might be a God!!!

Can you imagine if he runs as an Independent??? … sniff  … brings a tear to my eye.

As the GOP presidential field narrows, Trump will get virtually none of the support from people whose candidates drop out. Trump’s rudeness toward the other candidates and Fox News will cost him, and that 24% of GOP support he enjoys will be a static number, at best.

Easy explanation. The Creationist and anti science mainstream GOPers did not know what the hell Trump meant by “blood coming out of Megyn’s wherever” because as far as they know it’s the stork that brings babies.

“Clinton would beat [not just Trump but each and every one of the other leading GOPers including] Bush, … Rubio and … Cruz with similar numbers, according to Reuters”

Gosh, is it even possible that the overwhelming joint recognition of this by by Republicans, conservatives and wingnut is what’s fueling Trumpmania?

I have a great uncle, an aerospace engineer, who has been a life-long Rockefeller Republican (what’s good for General Bullmoose, Wall Street, etc.). He says the party is unrecognizable. They’ve not just abandoned science but simple arithmetic. They demand absolute protections for Zygote Americans, yet seek no protections for the sick or poor. He’s on the fence as to whether Trump is blow-back from decades of groinal obsession and anti-tax rigidity, or whether Trump should be praised for pointing out how co-opted the GOP has become, a patchwork of weird causes and total omissions of vast areas of social and economic policy.

Indeed, it may well be that simple.

When the white supremacist, uh uh I mean, Tea Party phenomenon first became widely known well before even the first summer after Obama was sworn in as president, there were a lot of reporters & pundits, including at this website, predicting this - in a GENERAL way, of course, not the twisted path that’s led to Trumpery.

Until Ayatollah Ailes deported him from Fox, it seemed Glen Beck would likely fill this role. Now the ambitions of every other high-profile RW asshole is doomed, outshone by the nebulous Trump.

The mere fact that this clown (no disrespect to hard-working and honest clowns) is leading is a scary thought. It tells us where the Republicans stand in matters of minorities and women’s rights.

All this means is that Trump supporters could care less about Trump’s misogyny. Misogynists are his base and form the core of the Republican party anyway.

Trump: “I’m rubbah’ and Megyn’s glue!
Whatevah’ she says bounces off me and sticks to…uhh…all those other losers at FOX.”

It’s called having a tiger by the tail. It might seem like a lot of fun until you meet a tiger that is stronger than you are. Did all those blondes at Fox actually think they were hired or that people like them for their journalistic chops? Is Megyn Kelly actually surprised that viewers might be more than willing to side with Trump over her?

Right. This is my prediction. He is the first choice of a durable, not insubstantial percentage of Republican voters, but he is not the likely second choice once candidates exit. But I promise you one thing, people who would consider voting for Turmp are not going to consider voting for Carly Fiorina and probably not Bush either. The others are probably capable of ratcheting up the boorishness to have some hope here. Yeesh.

I’m worried about Walker. If Trump succeeds, as it appears likely he will, in obliterating Jeb!'s chances, then when Trump bails, the base will go to Cruz or Walker. Cruz can’t be elected, but Walker scares me.
