Not that it should matter - TG people have the right anyway - but it´s comforting to know that the country maybe is getting a bit more tolerant, the results of the last election notwithstanding.
The Fright-Wingers are now pushing that cost-per-trans person being more than non-trans people as their desperate thin reed to cling to.
Never mind that same bogus argument can be used against women serving, or that most trans people do go under gender reassignment surgery or therapy.
I’m guessing more is being spent on Trump’s golf outings than healthcare for transgender service people - a lot more!
27%! There’s that blessed number again!
Trump: Fake people participating in Fake Polls.
FOX: All that matters is what does Electoral College want.
…but her shemales.
Fuck Tramp and fuck his bigoted enablers.
The Military Spends More on Viagra Than on Transgender Healthcare
…the military currently spends $41.6 million annually on the erectile dysfunction medication Viagra, nearly five to 20 times what it would cost to fund transgender-related healthcare.
I am so sick of these people finding a scapegoat du jour to persecute but I am heartened that Americans - not Republicans, mind you, but Americans - seem to be waking up to the unjust discriminatory practices.
And Stephen Miller needs his head on a pike in the public square. (this is a joke, only not really, except that my not really is part of the joke so I can’t be held accountable)
Well, I’d say that settles it, since Tweets from the Asshole-elect are not yet considered Executive Orders.
Well aware. Their response to that argument (which I have been using from sometime) is the cost per trans person. Not total cost.
I point out the same argument can be used to say women should be barred from serving in the military in any capacity since they cost more medically per person than men.
That’s when they usually call me a libtard and that I wouldn’t last a second in the military, blah blah blah.
Of course 10-15 years ago, they would have said “damn right women should not be in the military”.
So baby steps I guess.
"The world of ours…must avoid becoming a community of dreadful fear and hate, and be, instead, a proud confederation of mutual trust and respect." – Dwight D. Eisenhower
I must be getting old; I hadn’t realized that they’d gotten over that one yet. It’s nice to know that things do change, if not as quickly as we might like.
I think many of them haven’t really gotten over it. They just know they can’t say that aloud anymore.
“…transgender individuals should be allowed to serve in the U.S. military…”
They always have.
Just one historical example by which such idiots would be left in total apoplexy:
“Sarah Emma Edmonds (December 1841 – September 5, 1898), was a Canadian-born woman who is known for serving as a man with the Union Army during the American Civil War.”
Interesting thing, after the past election results. Any and all polling is so easily dismissed in the blogsphere, particularly on “teh right”.
It is their go to place when they are confronted with any poll that is negative for them.
See how terrible it is to let “those” people serve?
It lead to the freeing of those blah… people.
Now seems like a good time to observe exactly how far we’ve come on the issue of LGBT equality. I find this number remarkable and I’m thrilled.
I’ve lived a long time waiting for this.
Again, I hate to play the semantics game, but sometimes words matter. It is not a matter of being “allowed.” They have the RIGHT to serve.
Yeah but today’s Repugs can’t get elected in a country that is a proud confederation of mutual trust and respect. They started the culture wars - that’s all they’ve got: fear and hatred and most importantly - division.
It’s not even just polls at this point. YOu could post something along the lines of “LGBT people have a Constitutional RIGHT to serve in the military” over at Faux News (or, I;m sure, other KKKomment boards) and some meth-addled InfoWars junky will reply to you in 5 seconds with “Hillary by 14!!!” or “No path to 270!!!” They’re fucking disturbed and believe the election proved that they have carte blanche to simply disregard any facts they consider inconvenient.
