Discussion: Poll: Majority Of Voters Say Transgender Individuals Should Be Allowed To Serve

I like to think the baddest badass of them all was my wife’s grandmother (G-d rest her soul).

Who met her future husband in the PX while serving as a Marine (!) during WWII.

And could light a match at 30 feet with nothing but her service revolver and eagle eye.

A naval cryptographer, who could slaughter me in Scrabble, right up to the day she died at age 88.

But maybe I’m a little bit biased.

Maybe

Maybe.

Lucky you. Really. My mother’s mother died when I was very small. My father’s mother was Norwegian and she had made an artform out of martyrdom. She was not warm and fuzzy, to put it extremely mildly. I was named for her and it didn’t do one thing to make her thaw out vis-a-vis me.

Goes to show how small the “Republican party” has become when even with 60% of them against it still has 67% approval overall. You see this more and more with polls.

My mothers father was Norwegian, and yeah. Must be the cold…

The real question, of course, which keeps getting lost in these discussions, is whether bigots should be allowed to serve in the military. If they are incapable of doing their duty in a professional manner regardless of who is serving alongside them, then I say they are demonstrably unfit for service. They’re fucking soldiers. They’re not there to have opinions, likes, dislikes, prejudices or complaints. They’re there to be trained and then follow their fucking orders as trained. Period. If they’re told to serve alongside a fucking monkey, they serve alongside a fucking monkey.

All this nonsense about LGBTQ or transgender people being “a disruption” (or the other myriad variations of such claims based on their mere existence and presence in the military) is just projection and an attempt at flipping it all upside down and inside out. No. The disruption is the professional soldier whose professionalism dies the minute he finds out he doesn’t like what someone else is doing with their genitals. If he’s such a fucking snowflake about that, then how can we trust him to perform in combat situations under pressure? It’s all nothing but bigotry apologistics and excuse-making. It’s pretty much the same thing as them calling Obama the most racially divisive POTUS in history. He was, but only because his mere existence and presence in the WH drove the bigots so fucking crazy that their conniption fit over his election in 2008 has not stopped TO THIS DAY. I say start a movement to remove bigots from the military. See how they fucking like it.

NO QUARTER.

That and Scandinavian Lutheranism. But that’s kind of a chicken and egg thing I suspect.

Must be the cold and the dark. You’re right.

Bad idea. Not only will that not kill him, it will enable his spores to be widely dispersed.

**Strange, isn’t it, that only those with a tenuous hold on their own sexuality are most vociferous denouncers of transgender individuals serving.

Yes exactly. They are a minority - the GOP in Congress represent a minority of Americans and have pretty much ignored or downright spit on the majority.

This is not a situation that is slated to last very long and I think it’s over now. They went all the way out there to a minority president who went into office with no mandate and a majority of us dead set against him.

They are so fucked and they know it.

Let’s do the math:
A Rand study estimated that these treatments would cost the military between $2.4 million and $8.4 million annually. (Total military spending on erectile dysfunction medicines amounts to $84 million annually, according to an analysis by the Military Times — 10 times the cost of annual transition-related medical care for active duty transgender servicemembers. The military spends $41.6 million annually on Viagra alone.) So let’s call it $8.4 million annually.

Cockholster has already cost taxpayers over $24 million on trips to Grift-a-Lotto alone. And that’s only up to April 2017.

But wait, there’s more. That’s just a drop in the bucket.

Total cost for security in Palm Beach: $3.7 million
Roundtrip flights from Joint Base Andrews, Maryland to West Palm, Florida: $700,000

In fairness, Turmeric the Terrible will recoup some of his extra security costs through sales of a new #MAGA hat that will be released to commemorate 45’s 45th golf outing.

Psyche! That money will go to his reelection campaign.
