Discussion for article #238650

Unless these “conservatives” are Catholic, why would anyone, least of all Pope Francis, give a shit?

Proving yet again that one of the most prominent characteristics of conservative derpitude, i.e., that “you’re supposed to tell me what I want to hear or I hate you”…applies even to the Pope, the Church, the Bible and God.

I said ti before and I’ll say it again: it’s only a matter of time before they get it in their heads that they need to “take our religion back.”

It would help to know how American Catholics in general view the pope. Besides Rick Santorum, that is.

Francis continued its opposition to same-sex marriage and abortion.

Obi-Wan Kenobi would call them “imperial entanglements”…

Perhaps Rachel will touch on that with her interview with Santorum tonight??

American Catholics or American conservatives? If it’s the latter, who cares? Conservatives treat Catholics like they do Jews or minorities. American conservatives, if religious, are going to be of the evangelical bent.

Again, these are not Christians. They are christianists.

Who’d have thunk it? Could it be that all the religious shit was just cover for right wing politics? Just a way to dress up the turd modern Conservationism has become with a Jesus brand perfume? Looks that way to me. GOP or GOD…what’s it gonna be boy…

Just as they get elected to prove government does not work,
now they denigrate the Pope to prove religious persecution exists.

“The Pope has drawn the ire of some Republicans for releasing a sweeping encyclical decrying climate change….”

So Republicans reject overwhelming evidence of pending global catastrophe as make-believe.

But the Earth is 6,000 years old, demonic possession exists, and Thomas Kinkade was artstically gifted.

Goes to show American Conservatives don’t really practice religion. They use religion to advance their political agenda, big difference, and a sin by the way.

What’s the point of religion if you can’t use it to justify idolatry, greed, and hate?

In lands populated by many of the Catholic faith, man-made Climate Change is real and has devastating effects.

For this reason alone, Pope Francis has a justifiable rationale to point to the dangers of this.

It’s like spraying a ton of Glade after taking a hangover dump: all you get is the fresh scent of doodoo flowers.

I guess if the Pope won’t bless their hatred and nastiness to other humans they find unworthy then he is to be attacked and put into his proper place.

More popular with the right wing than Hillary I venture

Conservative “religiosity” seems at almost every turn to be the exact opposite of what an actual religious approach would entail. Of course, I’m a Buddhist so my opinion doesn’t count for much with respect to Christian attitudes. But still.

On American conservatives: "They are unanimous in their hate for me—and I welcome their hatred.”
― Franklin D. Roosevelt

Pope Francis should welcome their hatred.

Yes, well we need another FDR. Not someone who will try to make friends.
