When there is a breaking news story domestically, I google a local station. Local reporters know the lay of the land better. Anything international, I go to BBC.

Iâve heard that the biggest blow to bipartisanship was regional airports. Congresspeople couldnât easily fly home every weekend, so they socialized with each other ,and their kids, spouses, and staffers were also forced to socialize with one another too. It was a lot harder to demonize someone when your spouse is good friends with theirâs, you drink together, and your kids are friends too.

I cut cable TV about ten years ago, just keep internet connection. And I honestly recommend to live without cable news for the very reason you mentioned. If/when needed, live stream/video is most always available via internet today.

I donât watch CNN or anyone else because I donât have cable or any other way to get commercial TV in my house, I just rent DVDs and look at stuff online. Of what I do see that way, CNN these days has the least breaking-news reporting capacity of any major news organization. BBC is better at covering breaking news in the United States. I think that tells you a great deal about CNNâs priorities and what it sees as its role.

No, might be true. Shooter may have fled bank, then ducked into a nearby building (PP) if planned escape was abandoned due to pursuing security or approaching law enforcement units.
It is, unfortunately, really easy to assume that the shooter was targeting PP, but the bank robbery is also a good fit with the reports so far. The shooterâs determination to keep the police at bay and the violence directed at the police seem to me a better fit with a bank robbery than a targeted attack on PP.
That can cut both ways, though. As a non political example, Steve Spurrierâs wife and Ray Geoffâs wife were good friends for many years. Rumor has it that Geoff was fooling around with a secretary, Spurrier heard that rumor, and went out of his way to demonize Geoff in particular of all the coaches he played against.
Socializing still happens, though. Just look at how quickly the come together once they get out of Congress. The game now really is to drive as much partisanship as possible to ensure nothing passes, so people can continue to lobby forever on the same issues. And pretty much everyone in DC is in on the game.

That would mean that he attempted/did rob the bank 3 hours ago. And not a single report of that has emerged. Think that throughâŚrobber enters banks, robs it, leaves in a flurry of gunshots and dives into a nearby building where he bunkers down to exchange shots with police for 3 hoursâŚand nobody at the bank or in the PD has any news on a robbery?? Not to mention that carrying enough ammo for a 3 hour shoot out is not what I think your typical bank robber does.
What we have actually heard is that a man in a long trench coat and a hunters hat started firing in the parking lot and went into the Planned Parenthood office. The local news has been on that from the beginningâŚit started at the PP office. The PD has confirmed that the first call came from the PP office.
No, the âbank robberyâ theory is being floated to give cover, so they donât have to make the accusation that someone attacked a Planned Parenthood facility. Because that might upset their anti abortion viewers.

Never got cable, and I find that cable news makes me ill when I am exposed to it outside the house. I heartily second your recommendation to go without. Cable news feeds something very unhealthy in the minds of people, providing something like a 24/7 version of rubbernecking at a traffic accident.

No disagreement, just kind of adding there was an early report, still being repeated in updates, that the initial call to police came from the Planned Parenthood building. Itâs always wise to assume thereâs no reliable information available, what you do hear can be wildly wrong, and itâs only natural to speculate but you know so little thereâs going to be little value to that. Frustrating.
Just heard a police update: only one known shooter. Heâs still shooting at the police from inside the Planned Parenthood building. Theyâve effected rescues of several people trapped in the buildingâhow, exactly, they didnât say.
