This is the problem, though.

Drumpf repeatedly makes horribly offensive comments, which are then weakly walked back / 'splained by his lily-livered surrogates.

But it doesn’t make people forget the horribly offensive comments (or the not so subtle dog whistle) which in the case of the Drumpf’s call for an assassination, is particularly troubling.

I would love to see the Khan’s weigh in on this, just to further irritate the orang hot-air buffoon.

"I think he should just say, listen. I did not mean that," King said in an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” calling Trump’s remark “the type of comment that a presidential candidate should not make.”

and he will say all of that…on Fox.

“Do you think he has the temperament to be the commander in chief?” Scarborough pressed.

“Yes, I do,” King replied.

and that should be the basis of an ad.

OH. So Rep King isn’t buying the “its just about voting” thing? Trump’s not going to like him associating the Second Amendments with guns. It’s really about a voting group. Funny though…when Sharon Angle said the same thing it’s meaning came through loud and clear and she did not try to spin it like Trump. In her case it cost her an election and just about everyone was cool with that.

“Are you saying was he negligent in saying it? Absolutely,” he said. “He should take it back.”

“Do you think he has the temperament to be the commander in chief?” Scarborough pressed.

"Yes, I do," King replied.

How do you Republicans keep from getting dizzy?

Trump spokespersons and supporters were quick to spin his remark, claiming that it was a reference to the voting power of gun owners.

But if they have so much voting power, why do they need guns? Well, they need guns because they’re scared. And what are they scared of? Why other people with guns, of course. The more people who have guns, the more frightened they are. See how that works? The NRA does.

Too late for that, Pete. Too, too late.

then the press needs to call out Trump’s enablers on this. CNN pays Katrina Pearson to come on and cover for him, but rarely is there any push back should there be an obvious foul up.

Scarborough asked King directly did Trump have the ‘stones’ to be president. King said yes. That affirmation came on the heels of him telling Geist that Trump was essentially a bad boy and that he needed to apologize.

Its becoming clear that the NY state GOP are frankly going to enable Trump, because his presence makes them feel relevant. However it shouldn’t be the media’s job to pretend that Reagan has risen and now has orange hair.

A look inside Peter King’s brain -

Sure he shouldn’t have called for the assassination of a soon to be President but damn it he still has the temperament to be the commander in chief!

He went on to suggest that Trump might not have understood the implications of his comment. “I don’t think he even fully appreciated what he was saying,”

Really ? Seriously? Then Trump is the dumbest, most deliberately dirt ignorant tool to have wandered into the political process since Sarah Palin - after Sharron Angle - Republican primary winner in Nevada tossed out the “2nd Amendment solution” toward Harry Reid - no politician with any wits could claim ignorance on the meaning of this ‘turn of a phrase’

Sorry Esme…this ‘report’ is not REMOTELY what happened this morning on the set of MJ. Peter King did not say ‘absolutely, he should take it back’ like a SANE person would. He dithered and screamed and said it wasn’t true and it was ‘off the shoulder’ BECAUSE HILLARY! damn it! had Black Lives Matter people at her CONVENTION and EVERYONE knows they are cop killers…and then he went on to bombaste with ‘WHO DO YOU THINK IS WORSE???’ Mika had finally had ENOUGH and said ‘if you want to debate THAT you can come back on and we’ll discuss it but TODAY we are talking about Trump, his comment, the fact that HRC would have already been elected and picking judges.’ THEN Peter King said his ‘oh absolutely’ and BTW Trump is more suited to the Presidency than Hillary Clinton. C’mon. Stop the dumbing down of American with a misleading ‘report’.

It doesn’t matter if he takes it back. Saying it once was a disqualifying offense, and likely criminal.

He went on to suggest that Trump might not have understood the implications of his comment. “I don’t think he even fully appreciated what he was saying,” King said, calling Trump’s remark an “over the shoulder remark” and a “mistake in comment” rather than a serious suggestion.

Becuz in the rarefied air of tRump’s dystopian universe his unhinged loose lips make 'Murica grate Agin.

Peter King is being disingenuous in suggesting that The Donald “take back” his remarks. When has Trump ever apologized or retracted comments, however vile?
