Pushing back on hate speech that incites violence and bigotry, as well as banning public gatherings of Nazis, KKK members, and white supremacists who seek to cause mayhem is NOT a violation of the First Amendment. Every American has the right to peaceful assembly. But, as a product of the 60ās who well remembers the demonstrations of my youth, I donāt recall anyone on either side wearing helmets and carrying shields, knives, and loaded weapons. I defend the actions of Penn State.
In contrast, Trump University is re-establishing to offer post-graduate degrees in White Fascismā¦
Professor Richard Spencer will be the dean.
Iām quite certain that a few individuals on the TPM boards will disagree with you ad nauseam.
In my experience, many of those that treat free speech as a holy writ, have never beenāin personāthe target of the vilest hate speech. Itās all academic to them.
I understand that the planning session will be at Camp David. Professor Spencer will be flying up there with Il Duce after Spencer spends a night in the Lincoln Bedroom.
What a pity: Penn State is just a short Marine One helicopter ride from Camp David. Iām sure Il Duce wouldāve been happy to give him a lift.
Obamaās faultā¦
Oh Noes! Trump Never Said The Words āRadical Islamā In Afghanistan Speech
Yeah, I noticed the same thing. I was screaming it at the computer during the whole speech. How PRESIDENTIAL of him!! PIVOT, PIVOT, PIVOT!!
Good. Iām glad they donāt want to listen to this snowflake, the product of private school and lots and lots of money.
The only thing they missed was punching him - which I believe should happen to Richard Spencerās face every time it is out in public.
What happens if Spencer offers to pay for overwhelming security?
I thought Spencer was supposed to lecture at Wharton on the economics of living in his motherās basement.
No doubt. But, not being a āgood little Germanā, I refuse to march in lockstep.
The problem is that Penn State is a government entity. The First Amendment governs what government, and government entities, can and cannot do. They may well not be able to stop him.
The campus is still potentially liable if anyone is hurt.
Touch of Drumpf.
āThere is no place for hatred, bigotry or racism in our society and on our campuses."
Should al-Qaeda be allowed to speak on American campuses?
How about ISIS?
Or the Taliban?
Nazis and the Klan are every bit as āterroristā as these other groups.
They seek to overthrow the US government. They kill Americans for political ends. They radicalize youth.
The only meaningful difference is their exclusion from the Trump Administrationās list of terrorist groups.
PSU receives 13% state funds as a land-grant university.
I am cool with the 13% of the KKK showing up to talk (maybe the hood and the cloak?)
I think Penn State, and the many other state schools that are denying them, have a pretty decent case. Its one of the consequences of the violence his group provoked in Charlottesville; their argument for peaceable assembly is in tatters.
In that case could they designate what happens where with the event and with counter-protesters to reduce the threat of violent clashes? Seems like the preservation of physical safety is an argument in the mix with these folks.
Bravo!

This is not the way to do thisā¦
The BEST way to fuck with these Nazi assholes is to LET THEM SPEAK but do this;
- Allow them to speak at the college.
- FILL the seats with your anti-nazi friends an hour before he speaks.
- The moment he walks out on stage, EVERYBODY gets up and silently leaves, resulting in an EMPTY AUDITORIUM for him to speak to (and make sure there are PICTURES OF IT on every Social Media Site.)
That is how you fuck with a Nazi. Hit 'em where it hurts, right in their EGO.
They thrive on confrontation and chaos, donāt give them either, just give them an empty, silent auditorium.
