I think what the House needs is not so much new leadership as a new way of operating; e.g., how Committee members and chairs are selected.
Nancy stays, Chuckie goes,
“Dems In Disarray”. Yep, I’ve heard this song before.
Comity Chuck should be out on his ass.
Can’t we all just get along?
R. Denny
Yeah, goes with the territory. Because both sides. Jeez.
Replaced by?
(not arguing, just curious)
The job of a Speaker of the House is to get the legislative program of the party in power passed in the House of Representatives. There have been few if any previous Speakers who have been as successful at this job than Nancy Pelosi. She deserves to be re-elected to the Speakers position. It is also her job to advance into leadership positions those who will eventually replace her.
She’ll have the votes. She always does. She’s one of the best legislators of our generation. Sure, there should be some new leadership, but the top needs a sharp player and she’s it.
I also agree with the other posters…Chuckles should have gotten kicked to the the kurb…a hand-puppet could be more effective than him.
I think Josh’s article speaks perfectly to this situation. I think it offers an excellent solution as well.
This. Build leadership and have a bench ready to step in. Trump is afraid of Pelosi as are the Trump toadies in the house. Which other Dem does he fear? Several committee chairs maybe, but they’re needed as part of the accountability front. Work these next two years to hold Trump accountable and build the bench with a worthy successor ready to step in after 2020. GOP plays long game, Dems need to step up with the same. Josh’s piece last night was a good look.
Schumer is fine. The Senate is not the House and he is not running for President like most other Senators.
Klobuchar or Blumenthal immediately come to mind
OT, but holy fucking crap…
ORDERS to reopen Turkey’s extradition case against Gulen in order to force it to trade him to Erdogan to get Erdogan to promise to back off Saudi Arabia…
And so it begins / continues…
There are a number of worthy senators who have built experience and shown they could lead without Chuck’s I don’t fight persona. Yeah, Reed sounded kinda like Chuck, but everybody in the senate - including McTurtle - knew he could fight. Several women senators could get on Trump and McTurtke’s face and push a Dem agenda. Though if we’re searching perfection none are.
I just want someone who can go toe-to-shell with Yertle, and who Donnie fears…
Watch and learn, youngsters. Consider this an apprenticeship. Learn the tricks of the trade and be ready next time.
One reason there is no one on the bench is that previous leadership quality Reps have taken their skills out into the world. Like Xavier Becerra, in the pipeline for CA governor.
I don’t think Trump fears Pelosi. He’s too stupid and stuck on himself (and misogynist) to fear her. And what does that matter anyway? I don’t want someone because of some silly fantasy that Republicans will quake in their boots. Who cares if they quake in their boots?
I want someone who’s efficient and capable and, yes, worth our admiration. She checks all the boxes.
Come on in, the waters warm. That says it all. She is the absolute pro and, for right now, we need her expertise.
