That rump group of dissenters, led by Reps. Seth Moulton (D-MA) and Tim Ryan (D-OH), don’t have a clear plan for an alternative
I wonder who THEIR Master is ?
On January 4th, 2019 it will be easy to say in hindsight that the controversy around Pelosi becoming speaker was driven by RW media’s demonization of her, intrigue mongering by MSNBC/NBC/CNN/etc. and a handful of self-serving congressmen, and that there was NEVER a real possibility that Pelosi would not be Speaker.
Much ado…nearly nothing.
You can’t cast a vote for “Not Pelosi”…
“Pelosi will be our leader. The leadership will be the team that brought us here. When you go to the dance, you go home with the person that you brought to the dance,” Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA), a close Pelosi ally, told TPM Tuesday afternoon.
What he really meant was:
“Pelosi will be our leader. The leadership will be the team that bribed us. When you get bribed, you go home with the person that you bribed you.”
Nobody else can raise money buy votes the way Nancy “Pay-Go” Pelosi can!
And so we’ll continue to have the best Congress money can buy.
No democracy, no justice.
Darkseid or Hydra.
Well bless your innocent little heart…
House Dems need to pass some legislation to seize the narrative, Mitch McDonald be damned. If the Senate and Rump don’t like it, make them oppose it. Every Committee should begin their appropriations bill on Monday of the second week. I’d also start work on a law to clarify no entity which is not a living human being shall be construed as a “person” for the purpose of being protected by the Constitution. And since the House is the judge of its own members’ qualifications, they should start defining uniform national standards for House elections.
If anyone but Pelosi is more capable than she, I’m happy to hear their pitch. But I doubt it.
“No Labels,” a group led by Nancy Jacobson (who is, among other things, Mark Penn’s wife).
Predictably, it calls itself “centrist” and “moderate.”
Where does it get its money? The law says you don’t have a right to know.
I say fuck the poltroons that let the Drumpfpartei panic them into pretending to oppose Pelosi.
I’m a long time Democrat and until recently longtime member of the California Democratic Party. The problem is not within the Democratic Party. It is in the White House. Until we organize and effectively and intelligently oppose Trump, we have no energy to spare for internecine fights. I’m satisfied to let the House decide who is to be their speaker, you know, in a democratic fashion. The future will be in the hands of the next generation of legislators. Until then, we have to deal with the Mad King, in legal and proper ways. We don’t have the time left over to fight with ourselves.
Don’t feed the trolls.
And, in my oppinion, it is talk like this that brought us Donald J Trump!
low calorie food there, entertainment value rather than calories
too many calories in this food
Pelosi is holding a master class in the leadership required to be an effective Speaker and the opposition is confirming their complete inability to be effective in the House.
It is a fair criticism that Pelosi et al have failed at bringing up the next generation. As a group, they are way too old. But now is not the time for the caucus or those of us on the outside to cut off our nose to spite our face, which is exactly what the opposition proposes.
Pelosi has made a fool out of Moulton who may be in his last term a result.
I do enjoy watching effective leadership flex its muscle.
ETA: How different might this be if Rahm Emanuel were still in the House? He did not want to leave for the Obama WH because it was his dream to be Speaker.
This is EXACTLY right.
Ignore stupidity.
No stupidity, no georgeh.
Garamendi:
“When you go to the dance, you go home with the person that you brought to the dance.”
Funny … that’s not exactly how we used to say it.
Didn’t Pelosi say something a while back which indicated she only wanted to be Speaker for a short term?
