Discussion: Pelosi Describes Trump's 'Temper Tantrum' As He Pounded The Table

You know walking out of a meeting and telling everyone that you’re not going to do your job is called resigning.

The Speaker should be asking when he plans to turn over his keys.

I think that the best way to assure a Democratic victory against Trump is through the (properly done) impeachment process. For instance, I’m not for impeaching Trump because he is “defying Congress” – because IMHO, that could hurt the Dems in 2020. I am for impeaching him for covering up the Russia attack – make Trump’s betrayal the focus, and Trump will not be President on Jan 21, 2021.

And as for the Senate – given a choice between voting to acquit Trump, and keeping their jobs, GOP senators will keep their jobs. This is especially true if Trump looks doomed in the 2020 election. And its also true that, if an acquittal of Trump means that control of the Senate goes to the Democrats, Mitch McConnell will turn on Trump in a heartbeat.

Ms. Speaker, prayer is not the answer. Impeachment is the answer. As to the people who say “wait for House hearings to reveal blahblahblah”, why? Impeachment hearings will also uncover and present the facts of this delusional criminal, and a lot faster, with less refusals to comply with legal subpoenas.

Why do you think the term “unicorn thinking” enjoys such currency?

Do you really not know the degree to which Trump owns the Republican party? The real trials - and more important, you know, the convictions - will not come until the Trump leaves office on January 20, 2021.

Name me the Senate Republicans who would vote to convict.

can you clarify the distinction between calling for an intervention and “attacking”. Indeed, given the amount of people who say things like “Pelosi is going after trump with a stilletto”, it seems to me that not only does Nancy Pelosi attack Trump with some consistency, every time she does so, people here celebrate it.

She should have been “really worried” back in 2016. Worrying time is over, it is time to ACT. As the Constitution tells her to.

That’s all it would take to hit the trifecta; House, Senate, Presidency. I’m seriously hoping they see the light. It is that simple on many levels.

because people are addicted to cliches?

Trump currently owns the GOP because he is a threat to each of them should they get out of line. But IMO, most of them actually despise him-- if for no other reason than his absolute power over them. That power is no permanent, however. And if the GOP smells blood in the water they aren’t going to stick with Trump and get devoured by the same forces that will take Trump out. And the GOP media machine will turn Trump into a pariah once he’s out of office, because its either that or a martyr, and trying tomake him a martyr will tear the Party apart.

Name me the Senate Republicans who would vote to convict.

all of them except Lindsay Graham, whose behavior can only be explained by Trump having kompromat on graham.

That is the exact, precise definition of unicorn thinking. Good to know.

If Trump is Article 25d, Pence can be charged with knowing he was nuts (no way he doesn’t) and deliberately aiding in the coverup. There are better legal phrases, but this is the ghist.

why don’t you name the republicans that would vote to acquit Trump, if that vote meant they would lose their next general election.

No. I do NOT want to hear how dems hounded wonderfulest greatest decentest president to death. I want him to live a long healthy life - to the pain.

Who would lose their next election? Spare me the concern trolling. And I apologize for taking seriously, if only for a moment.

Whatever Trump has is escalating, give it time and he will completely dissolve. The sins of the father, like Ibsen’s Ghosts.

Yes and time is a great thickener of things, as Lincoln was purportedly fond of saying.

I haven’t forgotten that either. More people need to be reminded in 2020

I’d take heart from you post, but it doesn’t seem to matter what the people want. I’m sure if you polled the electorate, they’d say they were pretty happy with cleaner air and water without arsenic, fecal contaminants, and lead in it - but regulation rollbacks happened all the same.

Corey Gardner, Martha McSally are both “toss ups” according to 270towin.com
there are three others seats that are “lean republican” and 7 others that are “likely republican” (2 of which will have no incumbent, but are currently held by the GOP – one of them is Alexander, who is a definite possible “convict” vote

Are you saying that all of these people, if confronted with the choice of losing their seats or convicting Trump, would lose their seats to save him from being convicted — KNOWING that Trump would lose in November anyway?

That’s not just magical unicorn thinking… that magical unicorn/pegasus hybrid thinking

Well, sure. The unpopularity of Republican positions drives the anti-democratic stuff.
