Remember the shocked expressions on Grassley and Feinstein when they came out of that closed international security briefing a year or two back?

That would’ve been early 2017 during the 115th when Grassely and Feinsten were both on Judiciary (Graham replaced Grassely on Judiciary for the 116th and IIRC Feinsten was on SSCI for the 114th. In my office I have a quote from Rayburn, a reply to Johnson, shortly before Kennedy’s and Johnson’s Inaugural, Johnson just having met some of the young Turks Kennedy was brining into government, many of whom would later be characterized (partially derisively) as “The Best and the Brightest.” Johnson was lamenting about their brilliance.

Rayburn’s prophetic reply:

“Well, Lyndon, you may be right and they may be every bit as intelligent as you say, but I’d feel a whole lot better about them if just one of them had run for Sheriff once.”

Trump doesn’t need Ivanka and Eric to sit him down and say “gee Dad, We love you. We want what’s best for you. And we wish you’d stop that. Maybe you should talk to a counselor. Or get into a program. And remember, we love you, and will always be here for you.”

“Intervention” is the FIRST STEP in a process that usually takes a long time, and requires that the person with a problem devote their full attention to dealing with that problem during the process.

This isn’t a game. This is our country’s future. Get serious about it, and stop trying to be cute with “I’m praying for you” and “intervention” crap. it isn’t helping.
