Discussion: Peers Shocked At Nielsen’s ‘Cruella De Vil’ Presser, Hardline Immigration Views

All of Kristjen’s peers are shocked! Shocked, I tells ya! Yes, her friends only believe that immigrant children should be chained up in the home in order to get the housework done for free, not to be on public display! That is soooo gauche!

“She is motivated by a sense of duty…She really doesn’t care about getting credit, or in some cases the blame, just that the right result happens.”

So kiddie concentration camps are the “right result,” and what a “sense of duty” requires from her point of view? If that’s the case there is no mystery here. But I thought the question was supposed to be how to explain how she came to hold this (apparently new) point of view.

This idea of yours keeps coming up in conversations among people who pay attention. We are living in a Milgram experiment, minus the control.

Perhaps these same colleagues can be character witnesses at her eventual sentencing!

People are choosing sides with Mr. Trump as the enforcer for making a choice.

I wonder how many clearly wrap their minds around that it is a choice between loyalty to Mr. Trump and our country by constitutional law?

Good point. You do have to wonder what they mean by “the right result.” Do they mean abusing children, closing the border, getting the nonsensical wall, cementing permanent GOP control, total dissolution of our republic…

“This almost Cruella de Vil press conference that she held was shocking to those of us who know her,” said Arick Wierson, Nielsen’s classmate at Georgetown. “That’s not the Kirstjen we know.”

ETTD?

Exactly. The fundamental sign of moral degradation in a person is knowingly choosing to get involved in a corrupt, immoral enterprise in the first place. And with Trump world it is absolutely impossible to plead ignorance about the nature of what you’re getting into.

“She had a choice: She either loses this spectacular job, or she does the bidding of a President who is using these kids in a game of brinkmanship so he can get his wall,” one of her former homeland security coworkers told Politico."

Bingo. Greed, avarice and ambition have a funny way of helping people justify acts of abject cruelty, eh?

She and Dershowitz can vacation together in Branson where they’ll have plenty of friends.

So is it still a “spectacular job” you don’t want to lose, if part of the job description is doing "the bidding of a President who is using these kids in a game of brinkmanship so he can get his wall,”???
Sort of loses the whole "either or " aspect doesn’t it?

Don’t go on any blind dates set up by the people quoted in this article. A person capable of atrocities of the level directed by Nielsen was never a good person. These people who are surprised by her actions are clearly poor judges of character.

Trump strips everything down to its naked essence – I’ll give him that. Now there’s no denying what the essence of the Republican Party is, and there’s no denying what the essence of Kirstjen Nielsen is.
