Discussion: Paul Ryan Holds Moment Of Silence For Victims Of San Bernardino Shooting

Discussion for article #243362

“Please keep the victims and their families in your prayers right now.”

…and never, ever consider doing a god damn thing about the god damn guns. Yeah, I’ll say it, God damn America.

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) asked for a moment of silence Wednesday for the victims of a mass shooting in San Bernardino, California as he kicked off a Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that’ll do for recognition of this event. No reason to attempt to enact change. He asked for a moment of silence, no need to go any further. No problems here. These are not the guns you’re looking for. Move along, move along.

OT. Ryan looks like a B-Rated gay porn actor with that beard.

What would it take for these politicians to realize that it could be a member of their family who loses his/her life in the middle of an innocent situation? I don’t understand how they can’t comprehend this.

Wonder if he’s thinking and praying about those affected by this tragedy, and the first responders…

Too bad these 14 Americans weren’t killed in Benghazi. Republicans in Congress might have actually cared.

Each one has their job. Besides, God’s too busy to attend to the awesome duties of being speaker, and He finds the budget way too technical. So all that’s on Paul Rian, while Hisownself continues to work 24/7 on stopping the all powerful natural born black dude Obama from taking everyone’s guns,

This is part of the problem. Gun control advocates let the right wingers set the narrative. “It’s too soon to talk about this senseless tragedy” turns into inaction until yet another mass murder spree takes place. Control advocates need to stop this now.

They understand all too well. And part of me suspects that Wayne LaParanoid reminds them their families could be in the crosshairs as easily as their seat can be primaried by an NRA supporter.

“House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) asked for a moment of silence Wednesday for the victims of a mass shooting in San Bernardino….”

Were NRA lobbyists in the chamber able to stifle high-fives and “ka-ching, ka-ching” titters for even that length of time?

(One man’s tragedy is another’s fundraising gold…)

I couldn’t agree more. However, I believe the answer to your query is ‘critical thinking’ and ‘empathy.’ Conservatives are in short supply of both. I don’t know why – some scientists hypothesize it might be chemical, and there are studies on this, but it’s also proved that these can be learned as well. Learning is another issue. :worried:

A disproportionate number of these shits are psychopaths.

As someone else on another thread pointed out to me–and it makes great sense–what we’re going for is proper gun safety. ‘Gun control’ sounds like someone wants o take something away. ‘Gun safety’ sounds a lot more acceptable to the many–and there are many–who are in the middle on this issue but lean to proper ‘control.’ Semantics, yes, but I think they have a point. Martin O’Malley is framing the issue that way, and I believe he is right.

That’s all fine and good. Now, what are you going to do about it? And, yes, Congress can do something about these shooting tragedies.

Self-identified conservatives have been found to THINK differently than those who are more moderate or even liberal.
In an IQ sense they are no more nor less intelligent that anyone else, but they think “binary” – yes/no, right/wrong, true/false.

Just me thinking, but I believe ‘critical thinking’ might be described in large part as the ability to correlate, bring together the two (intelligence and empathy).

Did they do that much for the Planned Parenthood Massacre?

Hell no. But they “prayed” for the dead clumps of cells.
