One of six children growing up in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church? Sorry, but that is bound to account for some noxious beliefs or at least an openness to them. The problem with closing any particular sewer is that another one will spring up in its place. What we need to figure out is how to get rid of the desire in some people to want to go to sewers.
There will always be some small percentage of people that are just plain mentally defective. But the majority aren’t that. They’re being lured there.

This murderer must’ve shown signs of sociopathy which his parents, if truly engaged with their children, as they imply, would’ve noticed.

I dunno about the Orthodox Presbyterian church, but the "orthodox " or “fundamentalist” offshoots of mainstream protestant churches that I am familiar with are not all that much about “rejected hate and taught that love must be the motive for everything we do”. That’s why they broke away, they are more about fire and brimstone, and persecution complex.

My theory is that back in the day when someone was this far down the rabbit hole of bigotry and intolerance then it was harder to find other like minded folks. There was always that one guy, or gal, the crank that would try to hand you their pamphlet, but the people around them were inoculated from their disease. Now with the internet they are more able to find each other and the herd immunity we shared is actively being destroyed.
