I expect it will have everything to do with “state-centric.” Repeal the minimum insurance standards in the ACA and let every state define what constitutes a compliant insurance policy. It will be much easier to reach her stated goal of “extending coverage to 30 million more uninsured Americans” if you allow very low cost plans that don’t cover anyhting more than “take two aspirin and call me in the morning.”

And, since the new admin wants to cut funding for things that offend their delicate sensibilities, like birth control, emergency contraception and the a-word, they can go ahead and have plenty of unplanned pregnancies. And to add to that, while the private contractors are makin’ the big buck, the men and women in uniform get such meager pay that they may need food assistance and it can be their turn to feel the shame heaped on them by the now unfettered PeePee’ers as they get publicly humiliated as lazy-ass takers.
But no worries - Betsy DeVos’s dominionist brother Erik Prince, formerly of Blackwater, can still make billions of dollars because he’s on the side of the war machine that just gets to withdraw funds!

Ah, this makes more sense to me. Thank you. I strongly recommend they not go that route as it will be a race to the bottom for both states and for most insurance companies to try and outdo each other in the skimpiest and lowest-cost “healthcare” plans they can create … all with the emphasis on the number of insured as opposed to emphasizing the quality of the actual insurance. As we all know, it’s worthless if there are onerous stipulations and many hoops the patient and the treating physician must jump through to access meager benefits, coupled with enormous deductibles. If this is the route they’re taking, we will witness a strong uptick (once again) in bankruptcies due to healthcare costs and doctors and hospitals will see a big increase in unpaid bills … leading to lots of financial instability (again, once more) for caregivers. And, of course, all of that would lead to increased costs for all of us. GD, we’ve already been down this road.
