How can they Sue in a Federal Court AFTER Supreme Court of The United States rejected their application for them to hear the case. The Federal Court will toss the case.
Your honor, I strenuously object!
Exactly. Besides with the fact Supreme Court of The United States refused to take the case will weigh heavily on the Federal Judges decision. I am pretty certain he will site the Supreme Court of The United States decision not to hear the case and toss the law suit on those grounds.
The Federal Court will toss the law suit on the basis that they have no standing and the fact the Supreme Court of The United States refused to hear the case.
States Rights. THEY DO!! If it goes their way and benefits them.
Canât we just declare that republicans canât sue over a supreme court decision in an election year?
We are working on it. Itâs at least a century too late, but we are working on it.
Here in Ohio, a referendum will go on the ballot in May that will limit the legislatureâs ability to gerrymander. It wonât eliminate it, but it will limit it and if a gerrymander is imposed it must be revisited in four years. Gerrymanders wonât automatically last the full Census cycle.
No if the Feds Toss the suit. And this is highly likely since the Supreme Court of The United States refused to hear the case. Then the republicans HAVE NO CHOICE they have to accept the redrawn districts.
But says NOTHING ANOUT REDISTRICTING.
Arsonist: Iâm the one who burned down the house, so Iâm the only one who can rebuild it.
A look at the new map would be nice, if it has not already been posted. Looks reasonably for me so I can see how it completely escaped the Pennsylvania GOP
Supreme Court releases new congressional map for 2018 elections
Compact and contiguous! What a concept!
The Constitution says nothing about REDISTRICTING. And that may undo them. The Courts are not deciding the manner or place to vote or whom to vote for. The republicans violated state constitution. Supreme Court of The United States has refused to hear the case. Which also will weigh heavily on the judges decision. And if it violated the US Constitution the Supreme Court of The United States would have taken the case. And I donât give a damn what they want. They cheated and that in my book is the greatest travesty of all. But they have the right to sue.
Ahh a good old saying I have not heard since I was a kid growing up in Queens. Chutzpah. They passed that stage when the gerrymandered in a way to deprive political power of democrats and liberals.
Since when do Republicans care about bad optics?
And THATâS EXACTLY WHY THEY ARE LOSING MORE AND MORE. If they do not look at and drastically revise their platform they will find it increasingly difficult to win any election at the national level.
I tend to agree with the notion that âwe should go high when they go lowâ however I would like to pose the following scenario;
The democrats take over the Senate in 2018. In early 2019 there is a SCOTUS vacancy. Does the new Democratic Senate Majority leader tell Trump that the senate will not confirm nor hold hearings on any nominee until after the 2020 general election?
I maintain that those who say that two wrongs donât make a right and that we should honor Trumps authority to nominate a justice to the SC are painfully mistaken. The GOP must realize that what goes around comes around. Otherwise they will take us for suckers time and time again.
They already appealed to Alito and he told them to fuck off, who the hell do they think is going to issue them a stay, exactly???
Not sure it âspeaks volumesâ.
It can be summed up as âGOP is about consolidating power for the GOP, by hook or by crookâ
The only thing wrong with that map I can see is that I wonât be able to vote against the dickhead who ostensibly represents me now.
