Discussion: Okla. Mayor: Husband Wearing KKK Robes, Burning Cross Was Halloween ‘Prank Gone Bad’

Discussion for article #242425

Right, it’s no different from getting together with a few buddies, dressing up in Nazi uniforms, and goosestepping around the neighborhood. And who hasn’t done that?

A prank, uh, sure. Just like the Auschwitz prank all those silly folks did dressing up as neo-Nazis, or the coworker who left all that cool-aid on the anniversary of the Jim Jones tradgedy. Why don’t people have a sense of humor anymore?

“It was done in very, very poor taste,” Niles told the paper. “It brings up bad images of things that 99.9 percent of Americans, especially Oklahomans, are adamantly against. (Sheriff Jerry Niles)

With all due respect, Sheriff Niles, I’m of the impression that Oklahoma has a very small but decidedly solid percentage of residents that either lean KKK or would just turn their heads the other way. I wish otherwise, but I’ve known a few former Oklahomans who’ve told me a few things about their (former) home state.

Seriously, though, a prank? A “prank gone bad?” Please tell me how it would have gone had it "gone right."

“This is ridiculous, really,” Sharp told the News. “It was a Halloween night.”

***Hopefully they saved the hand-cart.***

I lived in OK for near 10 years. That has to be the biggest WTF comment I’ve seen in weeks.

So not only are conservatives unable to understand sarcasm, they also don’t know what a prank is? I fear at some point in their quest to hate liberals they’ll soon lose the ability to discern what humor is entirely and just declare comedy as a form of hate speech. And since they’re not allowed to use “humor” to express hate, nobody else will either.

They’re adamantly against being caught committing racist pranks I guess.

Speaks volumns of the Moyor’s family. Just how did she handle this with the children? What did they learn from their bigoted father?

According to the Klan; it’s a cross lighting, not a cross burning. They claim the cross itself is not burned, just the stuff they wrap it in. As if that makes a difference.

I’m curious who called the cops, since it was on private property in Nowhere, OK.

Trick or Treating. In a KKK outfit. In Oklahoma.
Sure. Right. We sooooooo believe you.
and of COURSE all those “other guys” just HAPPENED to show up in THEIR KKK ROBES too!!! Right when he was lighting the gasoline-soaked cross that ACCIDENTALLY showed up in HIS FRONT YARD.
Just a coincidence. Nothing to see here. Move along.
When the cops arrived, did they just take THEIR robes out of the trunks of their cars and join in?

So this is what passes for “humor” in Oklahoma? I think I’ll steer clear.
