Cary Sharp, the mayor’s husband, said he was drinking with friends when they decided it would be funny to cut holes in sheets and impersonate members of the hate group.

I became aware of this situation over the weekend and wondered if it was legitimate. Of the 5 mayors listed, 4 are Repubs and the one Dem is the mayor of Knoxville. I live there and am very surprised by this. I really do find it hard to believe about her.

I would bet there will be some false positives, BUT there will be some popped hoods that are legit and absolutely deserving of it.

The thing is, the person claims to have found this by hacking Klan websites and finding their emails and other information from the sign-ups. WTF is your email being used for a Klan website sign-up if you’re not a member?

Hey guys, you know those Klansmen’s hoods and outfits we’ve got just sitting around in the Jeep that just sort of showed up one day despite the fact that we’re not at all Klansmen? Yeah, those… Wouldn’t it be funny if we took out that cross that Bill just always happens to have in the back of his truck for some reason, and we pretended that we were Klansmen and we burned it? It’ll be such cool prank, now that we’re all drunk out here in the woods and all!

It takes a whole lot of drunk and bored to do the tailoring that it seems these gents undertook. Perhaps they simply had them hanging in the coat closet in the entryway of their homes and put them on “for old times sake.”

You can bet the hacker harvested more than just the names from the KKK sites. Those emails and other docs are ready for release to prove the named pols’ racist associations.

I do agree that some percentage are likely false positives. The NRA has had me in their cross hairs for years soliciting membership. I always return the offers with a note explaining my reasons for not joining. Suffice to say that those reasons leave no doubt as to my opposition (NSFW) to everything the NRA stands for. If Anonymous hacked their website, database, etc., I suspect my email and mailing address would show up.

I’m more interested in seeing how sitting US Senators respond to being outed as KKK members. Does anyone believe Sen. Cornyn’s (R TX) sympathies are out of sync with the KKK?

Mayor Sharp, it amazes me how you conveniently refer to your racist ass husband’s KKK ceremony as a “prank gone bad”! Since when has wearing white KKK garb and burning a cross fall into a “bad prank” category. You know exactly what kind of man you’ve been unionized with all of these years.

I’m sure when she ran home from her outing with her kids, she probably ran out there and joined him and the remaining Klan!

OK, but the ADL says there are anti-Klan laws in Oklahoma. Even if they aren’t in violation of 21.1174, they’re pretty clearly violating 21.1301.

Why did the cops say “cut it out, knuckleheads”?
