Discussion: Ohio Congressman Tim Ryan Announces 2020 Presidential Run

The more the merrier, I guess.

If I hear one more line from a Midwest farmer, I’ll hurl. They are .001% of the total population of America. It’s almost as bad as the great sucking up to Iowa every 4 years. You’ll never–and I mean fucking never–get ones that already vote GOP to not slavishly vote GOP. Especially in this current environment.

(Yes, I’m guessing with my .001% figure–it’s probably less than that.)

It’s telling that Sherrod Brown, whose deep progressive/populist cred would have made him theoretically competitive with Warren and Sanders for that faction in addition to the ā€œWill vote for old white menā€ demo, bowed out. Ohio’s probably not winnable for any -D, let alone a mushmouth ā€œcentrist.ā€

And it’s unfortunate that there are no Midwestern populist/progressives in the race, because that could be the magic ticket. I’m still dreaming of a Duckworth/Baldwin ticket (okay, Baldwin’s probably not a huge progressive, really, and Duckworth sure ain’t, but they’re badasses). Klobuchar and Ryan are not going to cut it with their aw-shucks boy-howdy uff-da-I-burnt-da-kringle-you-betcha appeals to Tom Friedman’s Moustache of Moderation.

How can I put this in the most respectful way possible? Okay. Here I go: HA HA! HAHAHA!! BWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!

That said, the path to the nomination for Bernie Sander got that much easier…

(And thank the Gods and Goddesses that we have ā€œRealā€ Democrats like Tim Ryan to protect us from the eeeeeeeeeeeeeevil, usurping, Fake Democrats like Bernie Sanders!)

Bernie isn’t a Democrat. Nobody’s calling him a fake one. He just plain isn’t one.

Really? How? Because if the path for Sanders was somehow harder with Ryan not in the race, I’m not sure how it got any easier with him in it since it should make absolutely no difference either way for any of the candidates currently running.

Thanks for the Firesign Theater reference! Love them!

Cause he’s actually running for future Governor or Senator of Ohio. Making a doomed run for Presidency now appears to be the best way to raise your profile for other offices.

Yeah, it’s nice out tonight. I think I’ll leave it out.

Now that CNN has opened the flood gates and is giving a townhall to anyone who’s announced they’re running for President (i.e. Howard Schultz, Marianne Williamson) I wouldn’t be surprised to see more people with oversized egos and limited talent try to get their 45 minutes of national media attention to further their career.

Now that makes a ton of sense. I can see that.

Oh, Puh-leeeeeeeeeeeeeze!!!

Bernie’s goal is to do to the Democratic party what Trump has done to the GOP.

We’ve got to nip this in the bud.

I think that had a lot more to do with people courting him for a VP slot if they win the nomination. Though I personally think the whole geographic angle for selecting a running mate is past its shelf live, it still seems to be the majority opinion among people making those choices.

Another wasted podium at the debate table, but carry on.

I don’t think that is what is at play here. I think its more people that are in Biden’s ā€œlaneā€ are thinking there might be daylight there after all.

Lets no forget Terry McAuliffe is still waiting in the wings (and I believe he will ultimately toss his hat into the ring too).

And while I don’t know, I think it hints pretty strongly that there is donor money sitting on the sidelines that isn’t committed to Biden. So why not get in and grab a chunk of that cash, raise your profile and hell…crazy shit happens on the campaign trail.

LOL – he just recently found out he wouldn’t replace Nancy as Speaker of the House. By waiting until the Q1 tallies are announced, he doesn’t have to look too bad out of the gate.

Well articulated thru and through.
