“My actions reflect an unhealthy mindset I have developed and I need to work to change,” he said.

It’s refreshing to see someone engage in self-reflection and take responsibility. I hope this man will learn and grow from his horrible behavior. That would be a positive outcome.

Still got some work to do there.
Maybe the death threats will get him to STFU.

It would be interesting to ask this guy what exactly he thinks would make someone a racist.

I hope you are right but in light of the threats and publicity I think it might be more like:

I see you are not as powerless as I thought so i’m not outwardly racist anymore.

“My actions reflect an unhealthy mindset I have developed and I need to work to change, because my employer said that his customers saw the video on FB, were appalled and that if I wanted to stay with the company, I’d better grovel as best as I can. Oh, - and I’m not a racist” he said.

Yes, I have fixed it for him.

He only discovered he’s a racist after he started getting death threats.

Up until then, he thought it was perfectly okay to scream epithets at a dark stranger for 3 minutes.

I guess it was a moment of enlightenment for him.

It truly is frightening how many people honestly believed that Political Correctness was a hoax perpetrated by Obama to oppress white people, which Trump would wipe away once he took office. Dylann Roof outright said that after his attack and I’ve directly engaged with such people, who say how we’ll soon be able to openly talk about how the Confederacy was right all along and finally put non-white people back in their place.

And now they’re coming out of the woodwork since their blood has been boiling for years over their need to end the bigotry that punished white people for using the n-word, just to learn that their efforts at heroically ending the PC Agenda isn’t as popular as the guys on the radio led them to believe. But this is 2018, not 1988. Everyone was supposed to have learned all this by now.

We do need to let the ones who are willing know that it’s okay to be a recovering racist… not a practicing one.

No racist! No racist! You’re the racist!

If you’re really gonna work on changing that unhealthy mindset, you might want to start with the premise that … yeah, you really are a racist.

But, somehow I don’t think you’ve actually made the necessary commitment to change.

The last time I visited family in Ohio, I was informed that a racist is someone who complains about white people or a person who admits a person of color to a school or gives him a job when a white person would have liked to have it.

This must be one of those double negative type things. “I’m not a racist – I’m just a guy who likes to follow people home and call them racial slurs for three minutes. I think that probably clarifies things pretty good by itself.”

I mean, he does sound relatively sincere, but really.

Did he remember to mention that it’s just locker room talk?

I started seeing years ago that the way the argument works is if you talk about race at all, you’re a racist. Any cognizance or consideration of any kind, boom, you’re the racist. From this I created a dictum: The first rule of Racist Club is never talk about Racist Club.

Assuming his quote wasn’t required as part of an employment last-chance agreement, I think that would be great.

Turning off FOX News would be a good first step to a healthier mindset.

Like I’ve said before…he should be happy if he got “death threats”. No one has ever been harmed that received them.

Anyone still think we live in a “post-racial society?” Looking at you, John Roberts.

And, no, I did not try to change the mind of this white male Republican relative of mine who had earlier ordered me to listen only to Fox News. There was no point.
