When the black guy is in the White House we would have to pay for putting troops on the ground, probably by cutting every program that helps the poor, the sick, and the elderly

  1. Yes, Iraq is a mess. The entire region has been a mess for decades.

  2. Yes, it is probably going to get worse.

  3. Yes, it is dangerous and tragic and heart-wrenching and was made far far worse by the Cheney Invasion.

  4. But no, sending in US troops ain’t going to do jack long-term.

That’s the cold hard truth of it.

From 11 years ago this was all a forgone conclusion. I predicted everything that has happened. And I am no expert on anything. Common sense alone suggested everything that has since come to pass. So If an ordinary citizen can figure this stuff out. Who are these guys making the big bucks that got us into this intractable mess? Because THAT is the problem. Iraq was a problem for which there is NO solution. Same with North Korea and Afghanistan. No outside intervention can control the chain of events. You’re unleashing a whirlwind.

When sectarian conflict in the USA gets so bad one group tries to kill off the other, will Canada come to our aid?

Obama is right not to shed more American blood to prop up Iran’s puppet Maliki.

For those people who understand what is happening in Iraq, 100% of us predicted this would happen and opposed the Iraq war from the beginning, Obama wisley refused to leave troops in Iraq because he did not want to shed more American blood and money helping America’s worst enemy, IRAN, and its puppet Maliki.

Iran only really cared about southern and central Iraq and so Maliki has left the rest to fester, and fester it has. The only reason Iran/Maliki really cares is that the insurgents, a few thousand with weapons from god knows where, are actually threatening Iran controled areas.

The only real surprise in this to me is how incompetent Iran is and how corrupt and incompetent Maliki is to let this happen. But the real question for Obama is at this point why should he care.

Bush’s criminal and unnecessary war in Iraq that Obama opposed because anyone who knew anything about Iraq knew where we are today would be the result of Bush’s war. Bush’s war has led Obama to a choice between shedding more American blood and treasures to help Iran or or sit back and watch as Iran is forced to move its own army into Iraq to save its puppet and hold part of Iraq as the rest implodes.

And the imploding of the rest of Iraq is far more dangerous for the region than the current danger to Iran’s puppet.

Thank goodness for Barack Obama. Can you imagine if McCain or Romney were President. Shudder the thought.

Well according to John McCain we won Iraq so we shouldn’t need to send troops back. Right Johnny?

I could be wrong…but I think America has NEVER won a WAR against Insurgents…

According to McCain, we had this won----as long as US troops stayed in Iraq until the Second Coming.

President Obama is correct in his decision not to send ground troops into this nightmare----a nightmare that is the direct result of Bush the Lesser’s insane Middle East policies.

The Iraqi state is collapsing–partly because of religious extremism, partly because its borders were artificially created in 1922 by some British and French bureaucrats, partly because the Sunni, the Shia, and the Kurds each want a separate homeland, but mostly because Maliki is an incompetent ass who marginalized the Sunnis and then sucked up to Iran.

But conservatives will blame President Obama—because admitting to the facts would burst the bubble they live in, and their fragile psyches can’t tolerate reality.

According to McWar…Iraq shares a border with Pakistan…and Al-Qaeda is being trained in Iran.

Not since the war when WE were the insurgents (around 1776 or so …)

The invasion of Iraq may have been a disaster overall – that’s true. But if we never would have invaded Iraq, we never would have had “The Surge.” So, clearly, from McCain’s perspective, the invasion of Iraq was worth it for “The Surge.”

Good. As Kerry said after Vietnam, “who will be the last one to die for the neo-con’s big lie about Iraq?”

No more.
