Discussion for article #244581
Considering how glad the Republicans are that 10 Americans have been captured by Iran I should say our politics need some fixing.
Understand the āweā stuff but the Pottery Barn rule should apply hereā¦
Iād be satisfied if they just fund and fix the roads.
Baby steps people, baby steps.
Obama is making us feel good about being an American with this speech. All the good we can do.
No talk of fear or hate or war.
Paul Ryan has a permanent smirk on his face. How very sad to be him in the face of such a pep talk.
Heās giving us hope and a hope for change.
Hope and change. He could never have made it happened by himself. We all had and have to do our part.
āAsk not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.ā
An incredible President with many accomplishments. Just imagine the progress we could have made if the GOP had cooperated even one little bit! I mean one little bit!
Amen. He ia knocking it out of the park!!!
I swear Fox has done something to its sound to flatten and muffle his voice and make it sound like no one is clapping. The difference between its sound and the other networks is dramatic if you switch around.
Out of the park,. Best President ever. Best final sou ever,
I love my President
Great speech!
Ryan is such a naif. The President couldnāt have had a better prop for āthe bad guysā with Ryanās amateur āon camā face.
Not even Republicans trust this band of conservative shysters.
goose bumps at the end. I got misty eyed. He is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
Iām always puzzled at what the Republican congregation DOESNāT STAND for, during the ovations. They are anti-American business leading the way on producing energy of the future? Really? They couldnāt give that a disinterested applause? They just sat thereā¦like statues.
The best quote of the speech, the one that will resonate with all Americans, was Presidentās remark that the only people in America who will have a job the rest of their lives with great benefits and a pension will be the politicians sitting in that chamber.
He nailed it and there was an obvious gasp among those present who were not politicians.
This is the crux of the debate in this election and all that will come in the future in the 21st Century. Our government officials donāt relate to the problems of the people they supposedly represent. How long will they let the politicians continue to get away with it? How long will they let the rich get away with corrupting them?
Big Oil isnāt so important any longer if itās not making enough money to bribe them to the degree they have become accustomed to any longer?
He looked like a naughty little boy most of the time. And he is.
Ryan even threatened to cut his motherās SS and Medicare when he spoke to all the old folks at her condo community during the last election. They were not amused by her little boy.
The prob is that the Repub idea of a fix is what is causing the probs. This is a self-fulfilling issue that canāt fix itself.
I havenāt read anything about the response by Nikki Haley yet. Is she still pouting or what?
I agree. He showed wit, wisdom and great leadership. Itās almost like President Obama was telling the Republicans in that chamber that they better start respecting and believing in this country and its people againā¦better start increasing our prospect for success in the 21st Century.
He essentially did a Trump on themā¦ while being very eloquent and inspirational. Something that Trump will never be.
Republicans sold their souls to multinationals and bigots. They are hollow men who have made a wasteland of their own ideology and political arguments. Nothing rings true that they say or do.
I absolutely loved the part about ending gerrymandering for good. Iāve railed against the crime of gerrymandering on this site, and to anyone who will listen! Firstly, itās amazing how many Americans have no idea what gerrymandering is or does, let alone that itās the biggest con perpetrated against the American voter. But mostly, he has a unique ability to belittle the idiots without condescending. He speaks and itās instantly clear that the grown up is speaking. He considerately puts the bickering children in their place.
