The governor can deny Trump and Penceâs visit too. To not send them packing when youâve asked the President not to come is irresponsible.
I have a friend living in the flood zone (one of my daughterâs high school classmates). The situation there is a mess and they donât need the photo-op nonsense at this time. Not from either side.

In any tragedy, a President is better suited to come after the crisis has subsided. What does a President going during the time of crisis do? It ties up state resources that would otherwise be better used. What will Obama, Trump, and Hillary going to Louisiana do? I hope Trumpâs visit is seen for what it is, political opportunism to get a Photo opportunity.

Let them have the field day, the Grand Old Projection party. They screwed up in LA for Katrina. That should be the story here, as to the difference in the response to the two disasters. If weâre gonna make it partisan, then letâs go all the way with it.
In the meantime, donât take one single solitary resource away from the effort to rescue people (and bodies) from their flood-overwhelmed homes and businesses. Not one. If TP want to go to LA, let them fend for themselves on the roadways and byways.
Not on my watch, the governor should make very clear.
ETA: In the meantime, though TP are candidates for the highest offices in the land, they are private citizens - Pence has no legal authority, though he is governor of Indiana. Trump shows up in his Trumplane should be enough for the governor to tell the flight guys at the airport to deny landing. If Trump insists on landing, this area is in state of emergency, so letâs see LA have the guts to make a big deal out of this, possibly even impounding the plane or something. But these guys shouldnât even be allowed to land at the airport.
And lets go one farther: There is significant flooding going on in Indiana due to heavy rains (one of my classmates has reported all nature of flooding in her neighborhood and home). Where is Pence for his own residents?

I can only imagine Trumpâs address to the victims of this horrendous flooding: "And your president is on vacation. He doesnât care folks. He doesnât care. He and crooked Hitlaryâ are responsible for this. Itâs all right there in her emails. We hope that Putin can help us get them. The Chinese are controlling the weather with Obama and Hitlaryâs help and punishing the beautiful people of Louisiana for their strong support of me. I found out that they also created the drought in California. Some people are saying that. I will see you get help. 5% off at any Trump hotel for the victims hereâŚno dogs allowed however. Seems to me Obama was criticized for visiting a hurricane disaster area for exactly that reason â it just adds to the communityâs burden and no one wants to see him, so why is he making like he cares.

To be a bit less angry about itâŚ, I disagree with your assertion that Obamaâs being tone-deaf, etc. for the valid reasons listed above.
On the other hand, are you inartfully trying to say that it would look better to be there waving his flag to the unwashed masses to prove he cares? Heâd get blowback from stealing first responders from their real jobs. Might âlook bad,â but maybe there just needs to be more press that he is doing it right and staying out of the way.

Donât you have to wonder how many people in the areas affected by flooding who are now complaining about the federal government not doing enough to help are the same people who complain about the federal government spending money for disaster relief in other parts of the country? Remember how good loyal Pubbies opposed relief spending for those affected by Hurricane Sandy a few years ago?
