Now the republicans will start piling on Obama for being divisiveâŚ
âŚwhich will then morph into: âSEE! HEâS THE REAL RACIST HERE!!!â
Not all repubs are racist but I would bet just about all racists are republicans. The faux horror aside, soft core racism has been part of the DNA or that party since the 70âs. With the Presidentâs election weâve been creeping towards more open displays of racist talk and actions.
We hear some supremes talk about original intent, our racism based in the constitutionâs tolerance of slavery, Dred Scott, Jim Crow and separate but unequal apparently is live and well.
Is there any way to format comments so that replies immediately follow the comments that they are replying too?
Responding to LostintheSwamp: The main problems in the Disqus era seemed to be trolls and spam, but it looks to me like theyâve thrown out the baby with the bath water. I go to Washington Monthly regularly, and theyâve got nested threads, and the spam and troll problems seem really minimal. Now that might be a function of it being a much less popular website than TPM, and perhaps TPM is a victim of its own success. However, it appears as though Josh & Co. were unaware of how important nested replies are to having any kind of discussion. Now, itâs virtually impossible, especially with the supposedly temporary limit of three total comments per thread. WTH?
Yes, two ways, but neither are what you are likely looking for:
- By clicking the âreplying to @nameâ link in the reply post when in âOverlay Modeâ on the article page
- By clicking the ân Repliesâ dropdown when in âDiscussion Modeâ (accessible only from the âcontinue to discussion pageâ)
The Comments engine (Discourse) doesnât have a âglobalâ setting for your account that makes nesting comments the default display mode for all threads. It prioritises order over thread hierarchy as a broad rule.
Yes, and playing the race card.
This second recent national incident allowed Obama a chance to frame the issue. Low IQ idiots knows no bounds, from the poor in spirit (Bundy) to the rich in money (Sterling). All coordinated by "ignorant folks"in the GOP, Birchers and Red States.
The irony is after the remarks, every news agency ran to every famous black person they could find to get his/her opinion. That, in itself, is racist and the news does not even see it.
The GOP is all racist all the time.
Cue Republicans barging into FoxSpewsâ studio screaming about Henry Louis Gates & James Crowley in 3⌠2âŚ
Well, well, here we have a window into the disgusting racism and unnatural sexual behavior that dominates the 1% but what does ABCâs âThis Weekâ huff 'n puff about??? Yes, President Obamaâs premature criticism when the alleged identity of the man on tape hasnât been provenâŚYea, says hater Jon Karl in the preferred Village manner of blurring casually racist speech, âIf thereâs two things the President knows well itâs basketball and race.â
Oh, Jon, one thing Mr. Obama doesnât know very wellâŚflaunting a mixed race mistress is public like the racist billionaire.
âVestiges of discrimination?â Thatâs Obama, the candidate and continuing representative of (white) Wall Street, denying the central edifice of American political, economic and social dynamics: race.
This is the same theory that provides the GOP with motivation to minimize the number of debates during primaries.
Knowledge is evil. It says so in the Holy Book. By diligently working to remain ignorant on Earth, Donald Sterling will have 72 Korean virgins in Heaven (end snark).
The president said that Sterling's comments prove that "the United States continues to wrestle with the legacy of race and slavery and segregation."
And then John Roberts got up and said, âDo I have to whitemansplain this to you, too?â
Donât forget, âWEâRE the ones who freed the slaves, damn it!â
Somebody want to clue John Roberts into this little fact? Oh, thatâs right! Sonia Sotomayor already did⌠but she was just being âemotionalâ and âirrational.â
Good Show. I am surprised and delighted to hear him smack this down with such words. Well done!
When I hear that argument I just ask if a Republican or Democrat would be more likely to defend the Confederacy now. I get a lot of " fuck you " replies.
