Discussion: Obama Contemplates Military Action In Syria

Discussion for article #226780

It also could give the militants space to strengthen and become a threat not just to U.S. interests in the region, but also to the U.S. at home.

I’m smelling mushroom clouds already. And the ghost of GWB.

“Apocalypic end of days” philosphy. Sounds about right. So why should we be the ones to handle these idiots? Let the others in the region do it if they are such a threat. Where the frack is Saudi Arabia?

I thought we were just going to help some people off a mountain and now we end up going Full Bush. WTF is going on with Obama this year.

Senator Meddling Quagmire Rubio, R-FL does not have a diplomatic bone in his body. Reminds me of some other doctrine. He is the kind of dittohead that many in his party love.

Let’s play smarter not dumber. We already know what happens when lobbyists take the reins and Dick, don’t even start with the ‘it’s all Obama’s fault.’

You would have them get their robes dirty? REALLY??

The military aid we’ve given them over the years is mostly for display or possible use inside Saudi Arabia only.

I don’t envy Obama at all, if I were religious I’d pray my heart out for him and the decisions he must make. Every option he has includes huge downside consequences and yes…that includes staying above the fray and doing nothing.

My instincts as a retired Army officer want to find a means of severing ISIS at it’s core but this ain’t that easy. When playing three dimensional chess it’s damned hard to survive let alone win.

Sorry but that’s really a stupid thing to say in this situation, there’s no comparison between Obama and the “ready-fire-aim” proclivities of the Bush years.

Thankfully we at least have an adult in the White House right now.

Apparently. I’m such a meanie. Thankless job on our part doing this crap unless SA gives us a discount on oil.

No.
To dredge up Bush the not-Lesser: Unh-uh, Notgondoit.
Sorry. Given up too many bridge repairs and made too many cuts to education funding.

It’s a shame that James Foley was murdered.
He’s the 69th journalist to have lost his life in the ME covering conflicts.
There’s an inherent risk to battlefield journalism.

His was far more dramatic-- for a purpose:
Drawing the US into the field of battle.

We’ve learnt this lesson once the hard way-- over the course of a decade.
Not again Mr President.

BwaaaHA!!

You do expect far too much!

But I’d go even farther. I want to see the Saudis put some Anus Saudise into influencing matters in the middle east.

And I want them to make their citizens stop sending money in support of Islamists.

No sir.
I won’t trade American lives-for-oil.
That’s a ® equation.
One I view with disgust.

Me either! It was sort of meant as a (poorly worded) joke. Dark humor. Mea culpa.

Yeah, especially since we have our very own fundogelical religimorons, right here in the U.S., who really need to be dealt with… oh, wait, since they want to do the end of days schtick, let’s send them over there to fight with their Islamic religimoron buddies in the IS or the ISIL or whatever the hell they are today.

That picture of Barack Obama is a perfect illustration of why nobody in their right mind should ever want to be president. He’s aged a good 20 years, maybe 25, since he took office.

My thought exactly. He seems to still have the body he had when he took office but he he’s aged noticeably.

A clear indicator of what stress does to the nervous system.

And for a bit more stress there’s this about the British citizen who’s being investigated for beheading James Foley.

Poor Beej—still hopelessly afflicted with terminal ODS and the worst grammar at Troll Central.

Also showing his typical ignorance of the Constitutional process. It thinks Articles of Impeachment are “swore (sic) out”

Sounds like it’s time for the Anti-war Teasquat Hoveround brigade to get on the move again.
