Discussion: NYT: Mueller's Team Told Manafort To Expect An Indictment

My only fear is that everything gets pinned on Manafort and it just looks bad for the Trump Administration but most folks remains intact

Let’s just hope that Mueller has Manafort so clearly that Manafort sings…

ETA:
I would presume that Manafort would rather sing about the Trump Administration then about Putin, and I assume that while Putin would like to have a puppet in the White House it would also meet his needs to destabilize the presidency and thus Manafort would feel comfortable doing so.

Great, now The Rump has his rationalization to fire the special prosecutor. You don’t give the enemy six months notice of your battle plans! Just you watch.

OT a bit, I see Trump’s ethic referee has decreed administration officials can accept outside donations for legal defense use. I know Manafort doesn’t factor in that ruling. However, these current officials aren’t charities, so does the money given them constitute income? It’s for personal use it would seem. Are the donations taxed? Does the city, state, SS, etc get their cut? Any tax lawyers out there?

Right now a person can go outside and look up and see the magnificent Orion constellation above. The morning stars of Venus and Mercury shine brightly to the East. The cool morning air is fresh and clean. Back to a fresh brewed cup of really good coffee. I imagine Manafort will miss these little luxuries in his federal cell or Putin induced coffin.

That’s okay. He’ll either be in solitary or have company with Bubba.

The Office of Government Ethics issued rules in 1993 governing legal defense funds for government officials while they are in office. Flynn’s fund, however, would be under no obligation to follow them since he’s no longer a government employee, said Stan Brand, a partner with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.

“The only thing that governs it would be IRS regulations on the gift tax,” he said. “Those funds wouldn’t be income to him, he would say they were used to defray legal fees incurred in the course of his business.”

ETA: The only funds that would be taxable (through gift tax) would be any individual contribution over $14,000.

The only difference between Manafort’s penal accommodations and the outside world is he won’t have to drive to get to the tennis courts, the store, the theater, the barber or the gym. And he’ll have a perfectly good view of the sky most of the time. He’ll live better than most of the populace. Plus it’ll be temporary, a minor imposition before the inevitable Trump pardon.

After seeing that, I’ll have to claim being a pirate, because something is definitely going in my morning coffee.
