Prison or polonium. It’s nice to know that the TrumpHumpers are given the freedom of choice they deny to regular.Americans any chance they get.
He’s gonna have to keep telling himself
“it’s a completely Made-Up roommate”
He can do it.
Self delusion comes easy to him.
I would think Mueller is going to indict Manafort soon if this information is public. Last week, we saw real advancements on the Manafort, Flynn and Kushner fronts. I would expect indictments of Flynn, and I do think Kushner is involved in so many tracks that he will be indicted as well. That Mueller is confirmed to have USIC info means that many others are now at risk, including Jr., Ivanka, Bannon, and Trump himself (which has its own constitutional complications, but at least some of the incidents charged will likely predate the inauguration).
Sessions and Kushner are also likely on tape based on hints left in prior WAPO/Reuters reporting (convos with Russians like Kislyak et al…implies that they were unmasked in these convos). Essentially, anyone in the Trump team who has talked with a Russian operative is on tape.
Oddly enough, Louise Mensch and Claude Taylor (backed by John Schindler - an acerbic right leaning natsec guy who is anti-Trump (for example, he despises Susan Rice openly but acknowledged that she did the right thing on unmasking Bannon, Kushner and Flynn + another one called @countercheckist)) have been harping and hinting on USIC recordings of all key Trump principals for months. The last few days have provided confirmation that this indeed has happened. Eric Garland, who is a left leaning nat sec guy, has been hinting at this as well. The general view from this crew is that Trump’s connection to Felix Sater has been known by the FBI for years and so people were on the look out when Trump started running for President and were shocked when they started hearing/seeing Trump’s name being mentioned in convos among Russians, as well as several odd connections between the Trumpers and Russians and mobsters.
My read of it is that USIC has been on to Trump for a while, but has been hamstrung by a gov’t that has been reluctant and slow to catch up on the legal front until Mueller came along. USIC made selective leaks to people who gave hints to the press, and when they didn’t get any meaningful response, some may have gone to fringe folks like Mensch, but they wouldn’t trust her with too much so they gave her some true and false info. Then when the MSM got on board and Comey’s investigation became public, they had better avenues to make the information known in Congress and eventually to Mueller.
Some excitement is generated among those wanting Trump to go down, as relates to Manafort’s legal troubles. Seems people think Mueller will pressure Manafort to flip in exchange for leniency. What pressure does Manafort feel to squeal assuming he’s been informed to stay quiet, a pardon is on the way once Muller and the courts have done their worst?
I loved how Sen. Whitehouse threatened the lying sack with indictment because of her attacks on Comey. I wanna see April Ryan shove THAT up Sauron Hoobastank Sanders’s ass at the next press conference.
And the neat thing about the US gift tax is that the tax is owed by the donor, not the recipient.
That’s a grey area. If the person giving it does not pay the tax or offset against their lifetime allocation, the recipient has to pay as income tax.
Right there with ya, ya scurvy dog.
Going to be one of those days. The troll has already started PM-ing me. AAAAARRRRR!

What surprises me–astounds might be a better word–is that the Feebs picked the lock on his front door. That means there was a “no-knock” search warrant–the kind that courts give for raids on drug dealers who could flush the evidence away. The court must have been convinced there was a good chance that Manafort could and would destroy evidence before opening the door. And the warrant was 'served" at 3:00 in the morning. Again, the kind of thing that the cops do with drug dealers.
What makes you think these will be federal charges? I think it’s much more likely he winds up in Sing Sing.
Assume Manafort is A)-intelligent, B)- cognizant of crimes he’s committed, C)-likely under surveillance, and D)- has incriminating evidence stored within his residence. Why in the hell wouldn’t he have scrubbed the home long ago? Fireplace? Shredder? WTF?
Why did Nixon keep the tapes running in the Oval Office? Why did he think the 18 1/2-minute gap wouldn’t be noticed? (For you young-uns: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nixon_White_House_tapes) Because criminals are often dumb.
As the IRS puts it:
The gift tax is the responsibility of the person who gives a gift (i.e. the donor), and the amount of tax due is based on the value of their gift. The person who receives a gift (i.e. the donee) is generally not responsible for paying the gift tax. However, if the donor does not pay the gift tax, the donee may have to pay the tax instead.
https://www.irs.com/articles/7-things-you-should-know-about-gift-tax
In other words, the fact remains that the gift tax is owed by the donor.
Unless the donor does not pay. Hence - “grey area”
Is it the responsibility of the donor to inform the recipient the tax is paid? Or must the recipient inquire of the donor? And if neither of the above occurs is the recipient subject to penalty for not paying the tax if the donor doesn’t, despite neither being informed, nor asking of the payment status? And if the donor has primary liability for paying the tax, but doesn’t, and the recipient ponies up, can the recipient sue to recover tax money the donor was supposed to pay?
He may have, but who knows what evidence Mueller already has and what he’s looking for to support it?
There is a lot of this with all the players. I wonder if it is simply they have been involved in so many intrigues and for so long they become complacent.
