Discussion: NY Post Sinks To New Low With Cover Showing Journalist's Reported Execution

Discussion for article #226652

Won’t look. Death porn is repulsive.
I am so sorry about this poor man’s death, and I won’t oblige the murderers by looking at their “production”.

Edit: Won’t oblige the Post, either. Rupert Murdoch can go f himself.

I won’t look. The idea that they would exploit that image to sell newspapers is nauseating enough. We’re already sufficiently outraged just by the news of the beheading. We don’t need to insult the family of the victim by showing the image on the front page of a national newspaper. Wow.

Of course they did. They know they just spiked their readership again.

Wonder if they’d print it if it were Rupert Murdoch that was beheaded?

Shock is the only arrow left in old media’s tattered quiver…I imagine Comcast/NBC execs are already in discussions with a certain anchor to breastfeed on-air when she returns.

They’ve also got to keep the fear and rage going. Can’t let the populace become too complacent and tolerant of “others.”

Has any foreigner done more to harm American society in the past century than Rupert Murdoch? He is the first one who should be deported.

Or guillotined.

“The NY Post is a horrible publication that used a tragic incident to sell papers. Isn’t that repulsive? Here’s a link!” Ugh.

hypocritical, isn’t it? basically TPM can get some page hits without having to bear direct responsibility for posting it.

Funny you should mention that:

They do it because it works. It will work until people say “enough.”

Consider the situation The Sun (the English tabloid) found itself in when it smeared Liverpool fans after the Hillsborough disaster (when 96 people were killed in a crush during a big game). Nobody in Liverpool would buy The Sun, and nobody would sell it.

Would that ever happen here? What is required before it does? We won’t know, until it happens.

He does head up the American version of Al Queda (Fox News).

imagine if we didn’t have an oil addiction and meddle in middle east affairs.

That’s “National Fish Wrapper” to you! While the NY Post may claim to have been founded by Alexander Hamilton, the current ownership/editorial board is a group of bigoted, stupid old white men. Do you really expect anything better from the execrable Rupert Murdoch? Fool me once, etc., etc. On further review, I wouldn’t even wrap fish in this garbage paper.

I looked. Horrible picture. Horrible publication. No regard whatsoever for that man’s family.

I know it’s wrong, but I’d buy that edition

a lot of media published the photo of michael brown laying on the street dead, including TPM. guess there was no regard for his family, either…seems like a double standard when it comes to deaths of foreigners or people of color.

I once put a copy of the New York Post in the bottom of my parrot’s cage.
He looked at it, then at me and said: “That would be redundant.”
