Away from the metro areas, that’s still pretty hardcoure GOP country. But beneath the surface, the more moderate Republicanism that Kansas is historically known for seems to be making a return–and that bodes well, I think, for Democrats over the long term.

I remember those days. My mother was from a small town in northern Kansas and she took me back there for a couple of weeks every summer. They were good people.

Now, you say Wichita, and I’ll be honest - the first thing that jumps into my mind is rabid anti-woman anti-choice crusaders and dead doctors and Kansas in general evokes Brownback breaking the whole damn state.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) dropped its fundraising agreement with Alabama GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore on Friday

They will stop Funding ads for Moore and will shift to funding ads against Jones.

lets not fool ourselves or let the GOP do it to us. If Moore was an acceptable candidate for the GOP they’d all be defending him with “fake news” chatter. Most of the Senate didn’t want him to run but they were overridden by the Republican voters in Alabama. But these allegations open up a possibility. They can shame him out or use them to justify actions like the one this bit is about: choking off his funding. NO WAY they would do this if the man was acceptable to the GOP establishment. The allegations are near half a century old and just came to light. “long time ago” and “suspicious timing” is all you’d hear if they liked Moore. They want him out. The GOP has extensive experience in personal destruction, usually aimed at Democrats, but they’re employing it here against their own in this case because they can’t stand the fucking creep.

That’s more than fair: this is the home of Operation Rescue, after all. I am a member of the church that George Tiller attended–and where he was murdered. But my sense of things is that that image is becoming out-moded. No one will soon mistake Wichita for, say, Lawrence (the state’s liberal bastion), much less San Francisco, but several thousand people attended our version of the Women’s March, which pleasantly surprised many.

Baby steps. But they’re being taken.

You know, 12,000 people turned out for the Women’s March in Ok City, which also really warmed my heart.

Good! I hope it is the kind of good omen I’m going to take it for. We’re way past due for a big damn correction to the left.

A couple of years ago Operation Rescue targeted Albuquerque and tried very hard to get anti-abortion shit on city initiative ballots and start a New Mexico crusade and I love the live and let be Catholics of NM - the crusaders got frozen right out.

EXACTLY what I’m thinking. For the NRSC to pull out of fundraising for this psycho either means that the Senate GOP is looking for any excuse to ditch him OR there are things out there in the ether that compliment the current accusations against Moore (or maybe both).

EDIT TO ADD: If the post that includes tweets that leftcoaster just made is true, then Moore just straight up confessed to sexual misconduct with minor females.

Reports of the NRSC pulling out of Roy Moore’s fundraising are mere allegations. If true, then I guess they might be worth paying attention to, but I haven’t seen proof of that so far.
