That was my thought as well. It kind of reminded me of Katrina, when the right wing (which was responsible for the degradation of FEMA) was yammering about how FEMA was incompetent, but look at good old private sector Walmart, which was able to use its supply chain to do things for the victims of Katrina that FEMA could not. The idea that the problem was that FEMA was not adequately funded or, in particularly, led, got put by the wayside. When the government can’t do the things governments are expected to do, we’ve gone wrong. I’m not familiar with the French political scene, but I know how this would play out here in the U.S.
That’s why the drug trade is so violent, Cartels have trouble keeping the crooks honest. They should have though that traitor ex-con Oliver North was not the most trustworthy guy around.
I’ve spent thrity years in the ad business, and the grift associated with political ad firms, especially on the GOP side never fails to amaze me. Sharon Angle’s direct marketing firm only putting 25% of spend into the field, pocketing the rest. Political ad agencies taking 15% media commissions, which were on their way out of conventional advertising when I was coming in. And now these characters.
One final gem you missed, though: the lawyer for the NRA is the brother in law of the guy who owns the ad agency!
