Discussion: NRA Rebuffs Wyden’s ‘Burdensome’ Request For More Info On Russia Ties

The NRA thinks of itself as a sovereign nation-state, so this is hardly surprising. Does look VERY guilty.

Sounds like the NRA will have to be held at gunpoint to get them to comply. Ironic, huh?

Curious that Wyden did not also send the correspondence to the FBI since there appears to be a reasonable suspicion that the NRA or at least some in its leadership may have violated federal laws

Burdensome? They should take a tip from Wanda-June (or whoever that women was who defended the use of birth certificates to get a Kansas voter ID) I’m sure the NRA can drive a hundred miles, look up records, drive back, wait until the clerk registrar’s office was open, then file in triplicate and await results. Or they can just call up the files on their computer and hit “send” to the email link provided - but too burdensome I guess.

“Given the extraordinarily time-consuming and burdensome nature of your requests, we must respectfully decline to engage in this beyond the clear answers we have already provided,” NRA General Counsel John Frazer wrote.

Yeah, you know its a damn shame when you learn that breaking Federal laws and then covering it up is so “time-consuming and burdensome,” but as the old saying goes, “if you do the crime, you got to pay the time.”

It is long past time that the criminal NRA be broken up and its crooked leadership be called to task.

In the April 10 letter, the NRA said it received a total of $2,512.85
from Russians or U.S. citizens living in Russia between 2015 and the
present. $525 of that came from contributions from two individuals,
while the rest came from “about 23” other individuals for costs like
membership dues and magazine subscriptions.

Not buying this low number. At all.

So they’ve checked the Membership Dues and Magazine Subscription accounts.

How about the Slush Fund and Illegal Foreign Campaign Donation accounts?

Oh yeah. Too burdensome.

If Wyden did, neither he nor Mueller would tip us off.

I predict the decimal may move to the right a few more times before the dust settles here.

Better to refer NRA’s crimes to the IRS, for starters. Then: FBI and CIA better look closely at the “Gun lobby”

So the NRA reluctantly conceded one. Now it’s “about 23”?

There’s more Russian “members.”

Commas and Decimal Points have a way of poking holes in every number.
$2,512,000.85 seems more believable.

No worries - in 9 months the Dems will have subpoena power and you’ll spend 18 months testifying 8 hours a day. How’s that work for you Peppe La Pew?

Your organization will be ended.

NRA should start distributing the new firearm tech to their members. Win-win for everyone.

I"d say it’s time for a government audit.

Very funny. If you took my subpoena forms, please return them.

Shorter NRA: we won’t cooperate, since we have a lucrative gig laundering Russian oligarch campaign money to Republicans.
