James Brady died yesterday. Since he and Reagan were shot thirty-five years ago, over one million Americans died from guns. Out of 30,000+ deaths per year, only 500 are self-defense. The NRA is blind to this death toll.

Geez, they love to bring rape into any situation they can. If someone is holding you down attempting to rape you or they are raping you, it’s highly unlikely that someone with 20/20 vision is going to have the ability to reach for a gun unless you’re one of the geniuses who keeps a gun under the pillow. What’s more likely is that the person on top, the one with the leverage, will see you reaching for your gun, take it from you, and possibly use it to shoot or pistol whip you.

What’s crazy to me is even this won’t make gun nuts question NRA orthodoxy. How do you proudly claim to be of like mind with this level of crazy?

Also, aren’t these the assholes who always say if someone can’t have a gun, they will commit the same crime with a knife? Why doesn’t that work in reverse as well? Especially in these hypotheticals where a knife would be far more effective.

I don’t get it either. If you’re not involved with drugs, prostitution, or any other illegal behavior and aren’t involved in an abusive relationship, it’s highly unlikely you’ll ever be in a situation where you would need a gun for protection.
