That was on May 15. On May 16, Alabama is set to execute Michael Brandon Samra for his role in a quadruple murder. Apparently Samra’s life is an asterisk on that “precious and a sacred gift from God” thing.
So were the lives of the six other people executed on Ivey’s sacred watch.
There are a few other asterisks on all life being precious and sacred in Alabama. The state has an infant mortality rate among the worst in the United States. Its firearm death and homicide rates are also strikingly high."

Have a hard time believing this, specially among women in red states that are so christian and shit. But even if they do, it would not make much difference because this is the religious right pound of flesh, and they will get it before next election.

I’m not talking dyed in the wool “I vote how my husband tells me too” people. But I am a woman, am in public facility changing clothes to get in the pool or work out with women of all ages and there are quite a few for whom this is the end of their support for Mr. Trump. 4 of them who have always been republican and just pulled the lever told me they were done with the party when they heard about this yesterday, and three of them are anti-abortion people.
Our experience clearly differs.

It is so dishonest to say this entire issue is about the “sanctity of life” because if men could get pregnant, not only would abortion be legal, it would be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, everywhere for free.

I presume you’ll be drafted into service to check up on women who fail to report an on-time period.
The State will give you checklists to go through, like have they been sexually active in the past month. If yes, they will be held in protective custody until either their period happens or a pregnancy is confirmed.

I haven’t watched one ep. of THE HANDMAID’S TALE because it’s just too upsetting to me to see that kind of dystopia made visible. I had heard that there are depictions of unimaginable brutality towards women who have defied subjugation and those who are no longer needed to continue the population growth.

Now Republicans will “backtrack” to the “reasonable position” of only banning abortion after, say, six weeks. And that will be presented as the “compromise” position. And the media will lap it up.
And Democratic party leaders will continue to not learn the lesson about the virtue of being aggressive.
