With a salary in excess of $2 million annually, North Carolina State University basketball coach is the highest-paid public employee in the state. Raleigh, we have a problem.
āAll we want is to do as we please and violate federal law. How dare you let the consequences catch up with us!ā

Hey NC repubs, go suck an egg. You are the most disgusting group of people. You will lose. I bet young folks in NC do not agree with your hate. You have a choice. Accept who we are as a country or live out your life as old hateful bitter fools.
This is an interesting way to āget the government off your backs.ā
The government should send you money? That will keep that big bad federal government off your backs.
Ya, thatās the ticket, āgo way, send us moneyā is the new battle cry of the South.
I had thought you meant where the federal government threatened to withhold funds, but yes threaten LSU football and the rednecks will revolt.
a wink is as good as a nod to a blind bat
Who cares what a clueless, lazy, do-nothing Congress intended? The law is plain, if conservatives stop acting as lawyers trying to warp the English language and read it.
Remember that part of the Constitution conservatives love that says something like⦠powers not expressedly given to the government means itās none of governmentās business? How dare the GOP require everybody to self-censor based on what weāre supposed to imagine the GOPās intends!
Hereās a CONCEPT for the GOPāers: Let North Carolina COMPLY with the DOJ directive pending the results of the litigation.
But they wouldnt do that because the whole point is to Drama Queen.
Blah, blah, yeah itās terrible, blah blahā¦
I want to know why everyone is ignoring this ruling.
Itās pretty damn clear and barring a hearing by the full court (it was the 3 judge panel and they sent it back, so good luck) or gets picked up by the SCOTUS (again, unless the justices decide beforehand that a hobbled court can come to a decision, they wonāt entertain a case thatās likely a 4-4 split) THIS is the LAW in NCās district.
In its ruling, the appellate court noted that federal education officials have interpreted Title IX to extend to transgender students and said the lower court did not appropriately defer to the regulations.
The decision, marking the first time a federal appeals court has found such protections for transgender students under Title IX, could have wide impact.
Iām SO looking forward to leaving this county in 10 years to retireā¦
Because itās law that a tiny part of the Bible disagrees with - even if the vast majority of it does agree with it.
Or, distractions like this are needed to keep the mouth breathers focused away from the economic equivalent of anal rape being perpetrated by the oligarchy.
One or the other.
Education is a LOCAL matter ⦠that goes for funding too. States Rights means you have the right to pay for your own goddam mistakes and your own goddam education system. Cripes these people principles are PAPER THIN. What ever happened to pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and other dumbass stuff that Southerners and Conservatives touch themselves over? We are NOT defunding the Tarheels, only the Sh*theels.
My first quote comes from the Wainstein Report via the NY Timesāno Dan Kane in sight, Iām afraid. And if your defense of UNC is that anyone could take advantage of the lack of integrity and accountability there to earn a worthless degree then you are not doing the school any favors.
And a Wolfpack fan? No, and Iāll not reveal my alma mater.
This is rich: āWe strongly believe that any move to withhold federal funding from North Carolina is without legal merit and an unprecedented overreach by the federal government.ā
The Federal Government is overreaching by failing to fund programs that defy Federal law ! terrible, inconceivable. Well, its about time.

Interestingly enough, multiple federal courts have already ruled that discrimination based on gender identity constitutes discrimination on the basis of sex. This is established law and there is precedent.
" The federal government contends, and the weight of legal authorityāincluding in the Fourth Circuit, North Carolinaās homeāhas found, that discrimination against employees or students on the basis of trans status is discrimination ābecause of sexā and is thus barred by the Civil Rights Act of 1964."
Isnāt that the truth! UNC is a fine school but during the long, long years that I lived in North Carolina all anyone talked about was their basketball teams. Same for the several neighboring schools. I speak with some authority because I left NC for State College, PA. Believe it or not, this community is incredibly proud of its universityās varied and excellent academic programs. The annual Big Deal isnāt a sporting event at all. Itās a decades-old, student-run charity event called THON that has raised millions of dollars to fight childhood cancers.
