Discussion: No, The CBO Was Not 'Way, Way Off' On Scoring Obamacare

This always leads me to a bigger question: why would any federal worker ever vote for a Commie Republican?

If there’s anyone that consistently gets dragged through the mud and is the object of right-wing hate, it’s federal workers. They are treated like garbage, considered to be liars, on the public dole, and most of all, dishonest.

Of course, we know it’s these commie bastards who are the liars, but it boggles the mind why they continually libel, defame and incite hatred for this group of people. (An additional irony: many of these folks work for these vituperative scumbags as part of their staff.)

Wouldn’t you think the attempt would be to produce a product that the authors would assume the CBO would rate in a positive manner?

For most people the answer would be yes but these guys are just trying to keep a campaign promise. Trump only recently discovered that healthcare is hard. Anyway Price’s vision is to rebuild healthcare from the ground up destroying employer based insurance in the process. For him that this Obamacare replacement is doomed to fail is a feature not a bug.

All you need to know about this act is Trump who likes to brand everything doesn’t want it called Trumpcare.

So little time, so many messengers to kill.

But Democrats have to try.

The GOP continues to exist only because they imagine a lot of “facts”, then totally believe those “facts” and work hard to make others believe them. Their belief is so strong that nothing can shake it. Actual facts never enter into their minds. Look at it as a religion, and it is easier to understand the GOP.

Democratic efforts would be much better spent convincing Democrats.

If I’ve managed to hoodwink you into giving me your retirement nest egg for a promise of 110% return, you wouldn’t be wavering either.

The essence of the con is the confidence.

Even abstract busyness is part of the scam, because people don’t want to admit they were wrong, so they cling to the classic notion of mistaking activity for results. And I’d venture to say that even when the scam becomes apparent (because it inevitably hits them where it counts the most), at least of those Fraudster’s supporters will refuse to believe it.

The other one won’t say anything at all.

That requires knowing that they need marketing. There is nothing to indicate this basic lesson has been learned, otherwise there would be a raft of ads quietly telling people basic facts. (Not to mention that Democrats like to stab each other in the back as part of their learned helplessness, but that’s another blog post.)

The problem is, where is the message to incentivize them? Who is ensuring these people understand where the pain is coming from? Who is telling them why this is happening?

I am not seeing too much of a counter-message,but I am seeing PAC messages from the right that tell voters and non-voters alike that Democrats lie about everything and DT is the only one that is and will continue to keep his promises. This one, I guarantee you, will make you sick and want to throw something, as I almost did.

Don’t blame him, because he’s right.

The Media Whores still insist on covering every lie coming out of this scumbag administration with a full court press. Why? They should have taken this guy’s advice, They still don’t know how to cover this at all, stupidly thinking there’s a pivot to adulthood just around the corner.

The Dems, as I’ve often repeated, mistake a 10,000 word lecture with 9,999 $50 words as a response. They have no rapid response strategy. So yes, they are failing miserably because they too, suffer from learned helpnessness. Not to mention the fact that everyone expects them to be adults and not to act mean at all. So all we get are strongly worded memos.

Trump and Co. are nothing if not predictable, in that what they choose to badmouth, is something that sheds light on who they are.

Let’s see just one of these Trump enablers put their money where his mouth is:

Make a bet, say $10,000, with someone who takes the CBO’s numbers and if the enabler’s numbers are closer the enabler wins the bet.

We need to listen to Warren,

and also to Bernie

I se a light at the end of the tunnel, which I grant you is a long one. Protests and resistance are organizing everywhere, and for what’s worth more people are tuning to the Maddow than ever before. She cuts through the niceties and people want to hear the unvarnished truth. Let the Rs tamper with ACA and they’ll doom themselves.

@sonsofares Your cynicism will accomplish nothing.

So who are the numbers-crunchers in the CBO? And what is their source for numbers to crunch?

Having taken my fair share of College stats classes:

Averages are the most misleading statistics one can use and one usually relies on such useless stats to cover up the meaningful projections.

Millions, upwards of 40 million, will lose healthcare under the Pual Ryan-Donald Trump healthcare reduction act.

Remember: Every average American has one boob and one gonad and one ovary! Averages mean nothing…and everyone knows it except Trump’s alternate fact universe and fake news Oval Office factory.

I did enjoy that…

No doubt, you are correct, @beattycat. It would be a wonderful outcome, however, if 1 in 47 Trump voters in, say, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Iowa, Nevada and Arizona (forget Wyoming, Nebraska and Texas for now) saw through the bullshit for a change, and voted Democratic in 2018, and if another 2 in 47 figured out enough to throw up their hands in disgust and simple didn’t show up to vote. That alone (never mind the turnout motivation for those who failed to vote last time) could turn the House and save a few red-state Senate seats for Democratic incumbents.

Not passing the bill, which appears more likely at this point, will make it more difficult to pin the ACA collapse on the GOP (even though it will be induced by their neglect) but it still will net cost the GOP politically and at least is likely to harm fewer people.

The White House was going to publish press releases, “The Daily Mendacity”, but decided it would be cheaper to just throw Spicer out there.
