The disparagement of the work and forecasts of the CBO is a desperate political tactic. The Repubs won’t provide their own estimates of how many people will lost their insurance or face premium increases, but they are adamant that the CBO estimates, not yet revealed, are wrong? Desperate Repubs do desperate things. Shameful!
I keep saying it, but it doesn’t seem to do any good: These people lie. They lie all the time. That is what they do. Truth is their enemy. Why, then is it news when they lie yet again?
So we’re expected to reject the CBO report (only if it’s bad, of course), but fully expected to accept what the most dysfunctional and dishonest administration in recent American history has “predicted”? Those numbers are going to be awful, aren’t they?
Trump’s agenda has become a floating decimal point… stick it wherever it fits their immediate needs.
Reality is just another one of their management tools.
Wouldn’t you think the attempt would be to produce a product that the authors would assume the CBO would rate in a positive manner?
Hey Sean boy,
If you dudes are so good at running numbers and things:
- Then where are Trump’s taxes?
- Then where is the evidence of Trump being wire tapped by Obama? If anything, Trump was wire tapping Hillary with the help of his boss…Vladimir Putin and the FSB
- If you are so good at counting things…where is the evidence of all that so called voter fraud? We’re not talking about the Russians rigging the election…we have that evidence…we’re talking about Donnie’s tweets and speeches about voter fraud. Where’s the accounting of this?
- Where are Trump’s college transcripts?
- Where are Trump’s draft records…the 5 deferments that he lied about?
- Where are Melania’s papers?
- How many wives did Trump have and why did he bring so many illegal immigrants into the US?
PS… EXCELLENT ARTICLE, Alice!
If we still had civics classes in our schools, they could make this required reading.
Your point is well made, additionally all you have to do is look at Kansas to realize those hurt most by R action will continue to vote R.
- The Supreme Court ruled in 2012 in National Federation of Independent Businesses v. Sebelius that the Medicaid expansion provision of Obamacare was optional, leading more than a dozen Republican-controlled states to refuse to expand the federal coverage to millions of low-income people.
“Obviously, more people are uninsured because of that decision,” said Elmendorf.
The many levels of pre-designed self-destruction and outright obstacles to the success of the ACA are not being exposed by the oldstream media in any way.
Republicans and their corporate Supreme Court put more than roadblocks in front of the ACA, and all those extreme time-bomb measures Republicans saddled Sebelius’s program with at its inception need to be explained clearly so people understand just how intentional that much-vaunted failure has been.
Not that the amygdala-capped Trump worshippers will ever reason this simple truth out, but a lot of people who hold Trump in contempt are confused about how and why the ACA is now “failing”, at least in ways the lying Republicans can disingenuously. if not accurately, claim.
The failure of the ACA is a legend of their own making.
All those stupid Trumpsuckers will never understand or admit that simple fact. That is how we will know them.
This response comes a bit too late. After a full week of conservatives screaming (and lying) about the inaccurate scoring of the ACA by the CBO, finally some push back with the REAL story. Where are the Democrats and/or the media? The message is quite simple and should have been voiced every time these clowns made these false claims. Are people doing their jobs or are they too busy calculating how to respond to falsehoods? Either explanation of this silence permits conservatives to once again incorrectly frame an issue, fool the public into accepting that government doesn’t work and that they lie…and they’re getting away with it.
Gotta wonder, why was no one in an official capacity correcting them? someone knew better and let the falsehood ride, probably on a daily basis…
Get these fools out of our government!
Become a Precinct Committee Officer, sometimes it’s a Ward office. You’ll meet with neighborhood Dems and get out the vote. Find good citizens willing to run for office.
Register people to vote. If you need to help people overcome the GOP-led Voter run-around help them do that.
Run for School Board. Make sure Civics is being properly taught. Think a majority of America knows how government works? Today’s 12-year olds will be voting for President in 8 years.
Run for City Council, County Commissioner, Bureau Assembly.
Get appointed to your Planning Commission. Know everything going on in your community.
Run for State Legislature or Congress. The next census is in 2020, then we’ll redraw Congressional Districts. Get rid of GERRYMANDERING! Safe GOP seats gave us such intellectual giants as Louie Gohmert and Steve King. In most cases it’s the state Legislature that draws Congressional boundaries. Make it FAIR, OPEN and HONEST!
Get rid of every stinking voter ID law in the land. The DEFAULT should be the ease of casting your legal vote.
We can finally put paid to the GOP’s fantasy of ‘running government like a business’, so let’s get people in there interested in helping Americans in general, helping govern the country, not just handing out generous tax breaks to the chosen few.
Overturn Citizens United. Money is NOT speech and Corporations are NOT people- at least not until Texas executes one.
Blame Democrats? Vlad, is that you?
I read an article this morning in The Guardian that spoke of Citizens in Evansville Indiana (where I was working last year) that was published this morning.
They spoke to three such citizens that knew they would be adversely affected by this new bill. Two of them voted for Trump, one didn’t vote at all.
At no time was any statement made that their support or DT was wavering, even faced with exponentially higher costs for health care.
This, getting Trumpers to figure it out, isn’t going to be all that easy.
Trump supporters willingly accept his and his. “consultants” lies. the discussions centered around why they do and how to “win” them over with facts is futile. They are born that way like lady Gaga sings. the Mafia knows how to handle Trump idiots. Make them an offer they can’t refuse. lol.
they can’t figure it. the sooner intelligent people accept that fact the sooner we gather our voters and get them to VOTE. there are more of us then the Trump idiots!
…think they’ve been incentivized to vote?
Is anyone going to contact them?
WHere and how do we find them?
This person is the key to future democracy.
The other two will require a lot more incentivization to vote for progress, but that seems inevitable, too.
They already suffer the slings and arrows of Trump’s outrageous misfortunes.
Hahaha…oh, to be a pariah…
Plus, it looks like Spicer made his choice. He went with the iPhone, so someone should cancel his insurance now.
