I love how all these countries are playing Trump. Nigeria keeping quiet. South Korea pretending Trump should get the Nobel for doing nothing. China petting him and Russia doing God knows what. The outrage about Trumps remarks isn’t because people don’t agree that there are some countries that are “very tough to live in,” but because of the immigration context of his characterization.
He was essentially saying that people from “shithole” countries are…shit, and therefore we don’t want them coming to the US.
After a short pause, Trump said the two presidents had not discussed the alleged remarks, before claiming that “some countries” are “in very bad shape.”
“We didn’t discuss it,” he said. “And you do have some countries that are in very bad shape and very tough places to live in."
