Discussion: Newt Gingrich Calls For 'Independent' Investigator In Trump-Russia Probe

It doesn’t much matter if he has credibility for us - he isn’t talking to us.

He was on Fox and Friends so he was talking to the people who voted for PeePee so I’ll take it. They don’t question his credibility which makes this work. As far as I’m concerned.

Nunes is part of the coverup.

That is as much more apt image.

Hope you are right, but I tend to find once a grifter, always a grifter. I think his middle name is grift. The angle, isn’t always apparent. His speaking out (if he doesn’t take it back/qualify it) just indicates that his he realizes his utility is 0 to team trump, so his ability to try to grift from that relationship has dried up.

Gingrich a friend to Dems!!! Or America?

Can we like that he said this and still not consider him a friend to us or the country?

He was talking to Fox viewers which means they’re hearing that someone on their side sees a need for an investigation.

So Democrats and outlaw Obama guerillas are desecrating Jewish cemeteries in order to make Trump and his white nationalist base look bad? Got it. You have to wonder which Julius Streicher wannabe cooked that one up over on Stormfront.org or wherever Bannon goes to keep in touch with his peeps.

Yes, exactly. That was my reading of Newt’s comments. He wants the White House to hire an “independent” PR flack to get ahead of the Russia story. He’s suggesting a “fixer” gets in there and clears away the smoke before anyone finds the fire. He’s not calling for a special prosecutor like McCain or Graham at all. This is for a whitewash.

I think that Newt’s also implying that if Reagan (or Nixon) had had a fixer there might not have been “Iran-Contra” or “Watergate.”

Based on his duplicitous track record - going way back into the Bill Clinton era and since - no!

Or Chris Christie. He is a prosecutor. Eats meat loaf. And is incorruptible.

What does this fat slob do for a living? Is he living off of a government pension and government covered health care after his abysmal stint in Congress? Too many pigs, not enough teets!!!

I read it the same way. In his passionate desire to be relevant without offending his paymasters, Newtie seems to be calling for a whitewasher-in-chief, someone who can “manage” the “investigation.” In case Mukasey isn’t available, Newtie might give Comey a call. He’s pretty good at shoveling BS in exchange for power and relevance.

You have to translate into Newetered-speak in order to understand what he’s really envisioning here. What he really means is that the GOP/Teatrolls need to hire themselves a hired gun they can loudly proclaim is independent, neutral and unbiased, but who will simply do their bidding and find nothing amiss…all to create the APPEARANCE of propriety and maintain a false sense of confidence in the checks and balances that should be taking place, but which have dissolved like so much dried up white dog shit in a heavy rain.

‘It’s not the crime, it’s the cover up!’ You would think they’d remember.

Nance would be perfect. He knows what is going on and is willing to do something about it.

Well, yes. That’s true. We do need that. Not that it’ll happen any time soon, because his party is crooked.

But you gotta love Washington. This guy didn’t get a cabinet post or VP. Ya think he’s carrying a grudge? Charming.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Tuesday that President Donald Trump should choose an “independent person” to investigate allegations that his aides were in contact with Russian officials before the election.

He continued, “And I’m just the right man for the job.”
