I think I heard that Moore is getting 90% of the white vote. I hate white people, and I’m white.

It is insensitive to expect results so soon after this traumatic vote. Let’s just send our thoughts and prayers.

(Proposed prayer: Please God, don’t let Roy Moore into my Senate.)
(Proposed thought: It would be unfortunate if Roy Moore was elected.)

Kind of a no-win for the Republicans:
Lose a Senate seat to a Democrat, and have your president publicly rejected in a super-red state,
or win, and have to endure perception that you’re the “Party of Probable Pedophiles”
and likely immediate Senate expulsion…

Classic!

If the exit polls are reasonably accurate, it looks like Jones more than hit his targets for African-American turnout, and for his level of support among non-white voters overall.

If Jones comes up short it will be due to lower-than-hoped-for support among white voters (they were shooting for something like 33% of white voters to vote for Jones, but it looks like he’ll end up short of that).

Whoever wins, it looks like the margin of victory will be relatively slim.

MSNBC said Jones, per Exit Polls, is gett8ng 27% of the white vote. Thrity percent of total vote is the black vote. If those Exit Poll number are right, Moore wins, I think, 51-49.

It’s like watching children play at being reporters.

No matter the outcome (yes, I do care!) Doug Jones deserves huge kudos and respect for holding on to his progressive values, including the right of a woman to control her own body and choices, and not folding to the pressures to ease up in order to become more palatable to the extremists who apparently are in the majority in AL.

He’s been a great candidate and I’m proud to be a Democrat tonight!

Patience grasshopper.
Wisdom will come to those who accept it into hearts…

Fuck that–I want the results now!

Just a couple minutes ago, these numbers suddenly appeared on FiveThirtyEight:

Alabama Senate
Doug Jones 1,248,811 99.6%
Roy Moore 4,386 0.3%
1% of precincts reporting

Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure that’s wrong.

Edit: Ah, they swiftly corrected it. Now shows:

Alabama Senate
Doug Jones 8,329 65.8%
Roy Moore 4,197 33.2%
1% of precincts reporting

Those numbers sound realistic…though of course meaningless given less than 1% of precincts.

But rather humorous none the less.

Even though I hold out hope that Jones wins, I have always believed that Moore would win this race. This is Alabama for gods sake. I also believed that having Moore in the Senate is a big net plus for the Dems. The fact that it’s close is I icing on the cake.

I’m looking at three other sites and they all show different figures, including the number of voting precincts in the state. I have no idea how the figures can vary so much.

If Alabama elects the pervert Moore, it really will be a death-sign of the American republic. We will have forever lost any and all ethical or moral compass.
