North Carolina Republican lawmakers have been threatening lobbyists with
retribution if the businesses they represent speak out against the
state’s new controversial anti-LGBT law, according to a report from
Raleigh television station WRAL.
I was wondering if NC Republicans could possibly look worse on this issue. I see they’ve found a way.
Yeah, this isn’t fascism or anything…
Well, thankfully we’ve found a dispute regarding this bill where it’s possible to sympathize with neither side.
I have written to the NC Chamber of Commerce to ask how they feel about all the GOP’ers they supported in the last few elections. They haven’t gotten back to me…
“Retribution politics is not a practice we engage in,” House Speaker Tim Moore ® said.
Then what was the point of HB-2?
Last gasps of a dying party.
Soon coming to a state near you.
He also defended his support for legislation to remove tax breaks that help certain companies, like American Airlines, that have spoken out against HB2 and said it was a coincidence.
Clearly, the NC GOP has NO IDEA how bad things will be getting for their state. Some of these Fortune 500 companies can’t relocate from the state yet but I have no doubt they can make their unhappiness at the NC legislature felt in the meantime.
Looks like NC is on par to revert back to the mean of the Deep South.
sometimes I need to write it out to make sure I understand…
companies are criticising and refusing to open new facilities to in North Carolina because of HB2…
lawmakers now warn lobbyists, who generally represent companies, to refrain from criticism of HB2 or else they’ll make it HARDER to do new business or expand existing business in North Carolina?
in addition where do these alleged concerned lawmakers think they’ll get donations for their next campaign?
I suspect the changing demographics of North Carolina will send a message to the legislature this November.
McRory: Businesses can leave NC, we will always have Jesus.
They are threatening to go after major employers in the state by removing their tax incentives? Lol. Brilliant strategy. NC GOP: Killing education, jobs and people in NC since 2010.
Art Pope has got them covered.
insidious: adjective: proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects: treacherous, crafty
"House Majority Leader Mike Hager, a vocal supporter of House Bill 2, recently tweeted at a lobbyist, “Wow I would think from all your negative posts about HB2 that u weren’t a lobbyist and didn’t have to work with the majority.”
“That’s not a threat,” Hager, R-Rutherford, explained to WRAL News. “We want people that’ll work with us. We don’t want people that’ll go out there and bash us on Twitter and bash us on Facebook.”
Hager wants to remove state tax breaks that currently benefit American Airlines, NASCAR, Google, Apple and Facebook, all of which have taken public positions against House Bill 2. But he said that’s just a coincidence."
From Joe.My.God.
Funny. It’s like they’ve gotten confused as to which one holds the leash, and which one wears it.
“We want people that’ll work with us. We don’t want people that’ll go out there and bash us on Twitter and bash us on Facebook,” he said.
Dude, NASCAR won’t “work with you.” NASCAR! Are you gonna be OK with just Duke Power, Chik fil A, and MegaChurch, Inc.?
“Retribution politics is not a practice we engage in,” House Speaker Tim Moore (R) said.
He also defended his support for legislation to remove tax breaks that help certain companies, like American Airlines, that have spoken out against HB2 and said it was a coincidence.
These are obviously guys who firmly believes that if they can fool themselves, they can fool everyone else. Fortunately, not everyone is as gullible as they are.
“Conference call for NC GOP leadership … Adam Silver on line one … says he was not kidding when he said - fix this …Or Else…”
Honestly, all it takes is one right-wing asshole billionaire and they can fund it with their pocket change.
So, that’s kind of the problem.
