Discussion: NC Civil Rights Museum Receives Threats After Denying Trump A Tour

So Trump’s white nationalist/racist supporters are upset he couldn’t get a private tour in a museum advocating for civil rights and that resides in the building where the historic sit-in took place? Oh, the irony.

Let’s see if Trump is still interested in the tour on November 9. Something tells me it’s a resounding no.

I think this proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that Herr Coir Coif’s supporters are NOT deplorable. They’re just activists.

> Trump's campaign spokesman in North Carolina, Kirk Bell, told the News and Observer that the campaign "is not commenting on this matter."

I suppose they would condemn the threats but that would run counter to the scampaign's "strategy."

Drumpf and Civil Rights are mutually exclusive. What’s the problem?

The museum is sold out for the next two months. The Trump Campaign expected them to bump people who already had tickets, and plans so they could use it for a photo-op. I would have said no, more like no way,go f**k yourself.

Tell me again who the basket of deplorables are.

They ought to have a section devoted to him. From the 70’s housing lawsuit to Birtherism to his rallies. It would be elegant.

With a brightly colored “C” to lead the way?

Well, properly speaking, he didn’t want an actual tour (you know, looking at the exhibits, listening to a docent explaining the importance and so forth). He wanted to have a photo session with the exhibits as a backdrop. And most likely he wanted it for free.

With the museum picking up the tab for the tickets used by the Secret Service.

“The landmark is very important – it’s not just a political backdrop.”

I know that statement is out of the Velcro ones comprehension.

Much to his credit, the museum’s CEO said essentially that.

"We made it known to Mr. Trump’s campaign that we were not going to grant a request of suspending our operations so he could somehow try to legitimize his ideological positions,” John Swaine, told the News and Observer.

It’s just a hunch, but I suspect The Donald doesn’t handle being told no very well. And not just “no,” but “Hell, no, we aren’t your token taco bowl photo op prop, you bigoted demagogue. We aren’t going to help the white power candidate who led a racist campaign against our first black president and has personally done more to promote hatred and violence against people of color than any politician since segregation.”

But, you know, said in a professional way, since actually showing anger is counterproductive and just undercuts the message…

But he said that museum employees who spoke to the Trump campaign said that they did not request a tour, and he said it seemed like the Trump campaign was looking for a photo-op, according to the News and Observer.

They were seeking footage of Trump “caring” about the blacks for some future god-awful campaign ad. Five hours just to walk around (without those nasty general public individuals to deal with), film Trump looking at the various exhibits not giving a damn about the actual stories to each one. How fucking vulgar!

“C”, as in cracker?

Good, I am glad, kinda the same sentiment, only expressed much more eloquently.

A very astute guess, but “C” is what Daddy and Donnie Drumpf used to put on leases when darkies were uppity enough to seek housing.

Trump’s campaign spokesman in North Carolina, Kirk Bell, told the News and Observer that the campaign “is not commenting on this matter.”

OMG.
Who the hell is running this campaign??? What a missed opportunity!
They could have expressed concern over the museum getting threats.
They could have called the museaum a great landmark, a much needed site to honor Civil Rights.
They could have unequivically denounced the threats and explained why that was wrong.

Instead…“no comment”?

Wow.

This, from a campaign that has suggested they would talk about Bills affairs. About a former beauty contestant’s weight. A camp that is fine with not paying taxes and will go on TV defending that.

Yet not one comment on a museum receiving threats.

If the museum was unsure if they made the right call in denying Trump a private hand holding photo tour, I hope they are put at ease with the decision after hearing Trump’s “no camment” on the threats. Good for them.
